What better way to observe International Raccoon Appreciation Day than with a giant raccoon bestriding the border between Canada and the United States and messing with Lake Superior? There isn't one and you know it.
The picture's inspired by a shutterstock photograph of a raccoon reaching out. And, of course, my impression of that whole area. Add in a few spots of low-opacity color and you have a piece that's clearly macro because of the tags on it and no other reason. I mean, there's the curvature of the Earth but if I didn't tell you that's what it was, how would you know? There's challenges in continent-scale macros I haven't studied.
I'm really happy with what I did for the tail there. It's got the shape of a stuffed sock but that works for the pose.
