Among our Halloween decorations is this nice figure of a smiling scarecrow. I like the textures that go into it, the ones of canvas and rope and the way the end of the sack making up the head has the frills of a dress. So, I tried to copy it, and while the texturing and all look okay, the face could not look flatter if I were trying to draw flat. Also, I should learn how to draw flat sometime. The original's rope as a functional necktie or scarf is one of those things that's clever but you shouldn't look too closely at.
