Been reading Paul C Tumey's Screwball! The Cartoonists Who Made the Funnies Funny, about early 20th-century comic strip artists. The front cover has this collage of screwball characters doing zany things, one of which was a dog stuck in a stovepipe walking along. Loved the look. So I went with that. I don't know for sure who the original artist would be but let's just say Bill ``Smokey Stover'' Holman.
