Three pages today because I am both excited and impatient!

So yeah, now that the flashback is ending, I wanna say a few things:

Really been wanting to write an ex convict character and trying to do research on it, but it's really hard because searching up "write ex convict character" or "ex convict fiction writing" does not bring up anything relevant to writing fiction. On the off-chance I'd find something, it would just be "how to write a creepy serial killer" or something stupid. So I just went off what I've heard about from a few people.

I wanted to try writing in a way that encapsulated the character's overall pain without romanticizing or fetishizing their pain, or making it "torture porn". Laetitia is supposed to have a lot of apprehension and trauma related to prison life, and I don't want to downplay those. But also, she's a person who has more going on than "I hate prison", and once I get back to the present with this long flashback scene over, I hope to emphasize that she's not some damsel in distress who needs someone to help her improve her life. She has interests, personality, etc. that make her who she is. I want to try showcasing her as a whole character like that.
