~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~I was very happy to see the updated (and expanded!!!) list of species in FA, featuring, among various more, none other than the largest extant species in our planet!! The majestic ostrich!! Which receives little to no love in this site: a tragedy on its own. So after chatting with
pikminpedia, who enjoys expanding his horizons to all sorts of obscure and seldom-seen species, we agreed to turn our 'sonas into some of these species. Our first task was "bird", so I went big... quite literally.It was supposed to be just a single scene of Tzin as an ostrich, but I really liked the poses I sketched out from the beginning, and I decided to keep them and turn them into a three part TF sequence... which then became an even longer five-parter, because I was not going to miss my chance to draw a obese ostrich. I mean, such an alliteration allures any artists... aaaanyway!
Today I learned: Ostriches do not burry their head in the sand. This myth likely originated from the position they adopt when they are cleaning their feathers, with their head tucked under their wings. Another possible origin is the pose they keep when they are taking care of their young. But they certainly do not stick their beaks into the sand. So, please stop using "birdbrained" as an insult. Birds are smart.
