How rare for one so unknown to stand when others crawl, when one dubbed the weakest
shows heart that humbles a lion. It was long ago when a certain hedgehog stood in the
very position this "Rookie" stands now, though the tides have changed and it's the hero
sitting on the villains throne, dubbed the true enemy of the world.
How it must feel to have one's past brought to face, to have what is buried beneath pride
used against them, and to have the darkest truth brought before the shining sun. In their
attempts to rectify their mistakes, just how hypocritical have the Freedom Fighters become
in their modern day, and just how overreaching is their grasp on the restoration of all that
lives on the many lands of Mobius?
Many lands think little of those from others who would deem themselves the arbiters of
who's deserving of leadership, of one peoples telling another who's to wear the crown.
And when yours is the source of the misery of the world, can you truly claim said right?

....What are you talking about? The pic is nice but nothing said here makes sense. They could had peace with the freedom fighters hell they tried to help them, and the legion responded with world domination. They always capture the enemies but they escape because they are just that good or have smart minions. In the end Liend only lives with a small group of her ppl the rest lived in peace until the Tasmanian attacked them.
Mm... Allow me to explain...
Based on the Satam and Archie continuities, it's a well known fact that it's due to the Acorn family
granting Julian Robotnik asylum that the world fell to complete ruin for a time under his rule after
the coup on Old Mobotropolis.
As a result, all races faced turmoil in one way or another, with the Echidna race as a whole facing
extinction more than most others as a result of Robotnik and those revolving him meddling in their
affairs as time went on and taking advantage of their rivalry between clans.
When it comes to the Legion's affairs, their primary goal has by and large been the unification of
all Echidna Clans under one banner, through violent means perhaps but with the ultimate end goal
of restoring the singular advanced utopian type existence they once had.
That's not to say corruption doesn't exist in the Legion, nor' is it to say their ambitions haven't
strayed in one form or another over time, but one major mission has always been seeking the
various Echidna's throughout the world that were strewn all over following many events, from
the Angel Island disaster that created Finitevus (may have misspelled that) to everything that
happened between them and the later dubbed Eggman Empire.
Now to explain what I'm pointing out revolving the Freedom Fighters...
The point is they do not "execute" their enemies immediately no matter how obvious a
threat they have proven to be, not just to New Mobotropolis, but the entire world, case
in point how when Robotnik went insane and was imprisoned, they left him in his mad
state instead of ending his life immediately given the opportunity allowing Robotnik to
regain his composure over time and rise to become a threat again.
Their patience and mercy toward enemies, their willingness to imprison or simply beat
them down rather than taking their lives for their crimes, is being point out here as a
detriment to both their own kind and to the world at large, making the Freedom Fighters
solely responsible for the never ending chaos and suffrage the world over for having
such leniency toward the scourges of the world.
With all of that in mind, it's more reasonable for the Legion to be against the Freedom Fighters
and New Mobotropolis, as the Legion has ambitions for reunifying an entire race and building
a new era and nation for themselves, and the kindness the Freedom Fighters and Acorn Family
have would be nothing but a detriment in a situation that requires brute force and the will to
do what has to be done to meet their end goal.

I think the divergence point to all of that is morality. While unification may be part of it, its at an enormous cost. Losing their own bodies to Eggman's cybernetics and forcing others they bring under their banner to do the same, forcefully subjugating everyone else into slavery, assisting Eggman with the roboticization of his enemies, killing anyone including their own kind who oppose them. Sonic and the others keep letting them live yes, but that's more the dichotomy of having the moral high ground. Plus, they've only really "let them live" because either the enemies have been captured and escaped a short time after their imprisonment before Knothole could sentence them in any way, escape capture immediately after they were defeated, or some other freak incident. Knuckles and Julie Su gave Lien Da multiple offers to redeem herself and help unite the echidnas in a better way, but she spat in their faces every time. What makes Knuckles the other side of the coin is he wants to unite echidna kind through kindness, righteous strength, and honor. Lien Da just wanted control for control's sake. It was never openly stated that Lien Da actually cared for the well being of her race or even wanted them to continue on. Its not like she's some misunderstood hero, she's a pretty slimy individual. She's betrayed her brother and Dimitri to gain power and freely assisted Eggman with horrific experiments with no regards for life. Brute force is one thing, but what she does is fascism. You can do what needs to be done and not be a megalomaniacal conqueror. Yeah, the Freedom Fighters have made big mistakes, and they may put too much into sparing their enemies, but that's all part of the process. Being good is not easy, nor should it be. You will make big mistakes no matter what you do. Even in the real world, through out every real war that's always been a constant. If Lien Da really wanted to do the right thing, she would have betrayed Eggman a long time ago and started helping Knothole and taking an active effort in restoring her race's people and cities. If she's seeing mistakes they were making, why not tell them? Talk with Knothole diplomatically. Instead, she's in it all for herself. She's not trying to UNITE her people at all, she's trying to subjugate them, that's a really big difference. This is a fascinating What If? scenario, but I don't buy it. You can't pin the world's suffering on Sonic and the others. They just react to the evil when it pops up and try their best to contain or destroy it. That's a non argument. The Legion has suffered because of their own arrogance to never change or find a better way to achieve their goal. If it was really righteous, she WOULD have found a better way.
