Its probably because we care more since we're learning the language to speak a new one rather than the one we are born to. I mean, I didn't have a choice, I lived in the states for 10 years as a baby bat. I had to learn! But I do find that with Portuguese its the same way here. People often don't care. I do, but I've always been anal about languages, even as a kid lol
