Even in the high deserts which are dry and free of snow, it can be extremely cold at times. Fennecs have many ways to fight off the frigid temps and it has become part of their species' natural habits.

It doesn't help when said fennec is living in a small apartment in the city in a temperate climate. Damn species body reactions...
