This is my end of a trade I did with Silas Sullivan from ToyHouse. I did a tribal story in which Aiden and his girlfriend encounter another leopard and they take him to see their leader. It was fun; I want to do more tribal scenes, honestly!
The sky is a dark gray with heavy snowfall raining down on the land that is home to the clouded leopard village. Blizzards aren't common; they aren't frequent either. Though they happen regularly, these snowstorms are more dangerous due to high wind velocity, chances of fog, and dense visibility. Most animals hated blizzards because of the intense cold and biting winds; some welcomed it, which meant more play time for them. Others were used to it or were already getting used to this type of weather.
Aiden and his girlfriend, Alice, trek through the snowy weather in a routine patrol during one of their breaks from their duties as messengers for their tribe. Their clothes whip about them from the intense wind and the snowfall; that didn't stop them from carrying out their tasks or making their rounds. They're used to this kind of weather.
The clouded leopard couple press on in their patrol through the harsh winter weather, fighting the biting cold. Even if their fur kept them warm, they still had the elements and other environmental aspects to deal with. This will prove even harder if they encounter any enemies during their journey.
Aiden raises his arm up to shield his face from the snow while his own clothing whips about. Apart from the black loincloth he wore, he also wore a brown tunic and matching leg warmers. Alice, on the other hand, wore a mauve colored cloak along with her bra and loincloth. Yet she too had matching leg warmers on.
During their trek, Alice surveys her surroundings occasionally while navigating down the snowy trail they're on, leaving behind a wake of paw prints in the snow. There must be some kind of reward waiting for them at the end of all of this! Yet while they're in the middle of their exploration, Annie tosses an offer to her boyfriend, one that will gladly put them at ease. "Hey Aiden, once we're through with our patrol, would you like some hot chocolate?"
Aiden grinned at the offer, taking it to heart. "That actually sounds nice with some caramel added to it! That's a much better choice than going to the tavern! I like that idea, Alice!" Aiden pictures himself sitting in his tent with his girlfriend, the two enjoying a warm cup of caramel flavored hot chocolate after they get back.
The male clouded leopard accumulates a slight blush on his cheeks at the upcoming prospect, to which he shares with his mate. "One for me, one for you; same as drinking coffee together. It is winter after all."
"Yeah, dead of winter! Blizzards like this aren't that common but they still happen!" Alice began shouting over the wind. Her cloak whips about her and she seizes it to keep it secure, and from obscuring her vision even more. However, the wind died down gradually while the snow kept cascading.
"At least we came prepared for it!" Aiden smirked at her in return, staring at her. True, they were prepared for it. But in all honesty, a snow leopard would have more success through the winter weather. The clouded leopards have darker fur and are different in stature.
"You're telling me, Aiden!" Alice shouted in return, over the wind. "This weather is crazy! We rarely have blizzards out here!" Though the winds are still blowing strong with the snowflakes pelting them, the pair are still able to freely communicate with each other.
"This is the Himalayas we're talking about! Of course we have a lot of snow here! We're in Nepal after all if you haven't noticed before!" Came Aiden's response.
Alice understood her boyfriend's words while they crept carefully against the snow, trying not to get bogged down by the precipitation. True to Aiden's testimony, their village lands do accumulate a lot of snow, but blizzards are an uncommon natural occurrence. While considering her boyfriend's words, Alice gazes up to the cloudy sky, wondering when the snowy weather will let up. They didn't have to wait too long from watching the horizon.
Around 15 minutes later, the blizzard weather calms down to a much lighter snowfall where there are calmer, less aggressive winds coursing through the cold air. So far, the pair found nothing out of the ordinary through the weather, but they could feel their pawfeet and tails growing colder by the minute. That future promise of a warm drink of hot cocoa makes the journey back to the village all the more promising.
During the journey back, Aiden and Alice are trekking together, holding hands when the former suddenly stops, his ears perking up. At first, he searched around the landscape for anything odd while listening out for strange noises; Alice watched him survey the area while remaining beside him, her own instincts having relaxed. Thinking he is going crazy, Alice hugs Aiden from behind. "We found nothing so far, so you're probably hallucinating. What are you searching for anyway? There is nothing out here but snow, trees, and mountains."
Still on high alert, Aiden denies his mate's claim while asserting, "I don't think so, Alice. I could've sworn I've heard someth--"
Aiden would have finished his own statement had a snowball not slam into Alice's head from her left. They both flinched from the sudden snowball impact and the female shakes her head to clear the snow away. "What was that?" She wondered in passing. Aiden, however, gazed intently into the treeline when he spotted a sliver of something moving behind the trees. That is when the clouded leopard obtains an idea in his mind to draw out the intruder.
Aiden steps away from his girlfriend to face her, holding a finger up to his lips to tell her to stay silent but just in case, he whispers to her, "Have your sword ready in case of attack. I'm gonna snuff em out!" While leaving Alice on alert and on standby, Aiden goes to work on his plan.
Leaving out the sensation of the intense cold that has taken him over, Aiden felt his entire body stinging all over. Cold sensations were replaced with adrenaline once his body warms back up, leaving the coldness in the back of his mind as a distant memory. Same thing goes for Alice; she left behind the cold feeling of their current location which is replaced with adrenaline once she draws her sword from her right side, clutching the handle of her blade firmly in her hand.
Scooping down to the floor, Aiden draws in some snow into his hands, packing it nice and neat into a snowball. And once he stands back up, he starts to pick out a good spot to throw the white projectile in order to draw out the intruder. After noticing a tree near the last place he spotted the figure, the male clouded leopard takes a baseball pitching aim and launches the snowball out of his hand.
What was supposed to be a fastball turns into a curveball at the last moment from the wind; the snowball travels in a straight arc from Aiden's overhand launch. And before hitting the tree, the snowball changed angle and trajectory due to the wind blowing westward, causing the snowball to splatter halfway against the tree. The other half hits the snowy forest floor. But just when there were no results, the two clouded leopards receive quite a surprise of their own!
A blue furred leopard backs out of the shadows after nearly getting hit with a snowball, courtesy of Aiden's snuff-out attack. The two clouded leopards regard the mysterious blue feline with wary stares when the blue feline meets theirs with a fearful expression! The blue leopard stares at the duo, completely frozen in fear.
Seeing the blue leopard alone like this in a fearful manner, Alice secures her sword while Aiden seems pleased with his results. So this is the culprit hiding away in the shadows! Yet the blue furred feline was only here in their territory, minding his own business; he hadn't done anything wrong and he wasn't sure why he was suddenly being hunted down like a common intruder. Yet when the mysterious leopard tries to speak, Aiden advances forward to him, briefly outstretching his shoulders in a brief shrug.
"What is your business up in these mountains?" Aiden questions the mysterious leopard while coming to meet him. Stopping across from the blue leopard, Aiden awaits his answer while staring at him calmly, his own ginger eyes relaxed.
The blue leopard introduces himself and explains why he is here, "My name is Aquarium and I was just exploring the mountains. I never expected to see you here…"
"Aquarium? You do look the part, given your blue fur! Heh heh! I've never seen a blue leopard before nor encountered one! Pretty intriguing sight, if I may add." Aiden commented while surveying the blue leopard from head to toe.
Aquarium only wore a brown loincloth that came down to his knees while having nothing on his body. Aiden and Alice noticed that; Aquarium, on the other hand, raises his hand up and suggests, "Please, call me 'Aqua' for short. It's better than using my whole name."
"Okay Aqua," Aiden agreed while smiling at him in return, "I welcome you -" he corrects himself once he turns his attention to Alice and then back to the blue leopard; outstretching his arms, he welcomes the blue leopard to the mountains, "- we welcome you to the Nefaro tribe! We are based exclusively on the Himalayas and the surrounding mountains. Of course, our village encompasses the K2 range as well, but we're mainly based in Nepal."
"Ohhh," Aquarium appears to understand Aiden's welcome and steps forward to meet the warrior when he realizes something, stopping in surprise. "Wait, you're saying I'm in Nepal now in the Himalayan mountains?!" A nod of confirmation from both clouded leopards assure this, leaving Aquarium bewildered. He exclaims in astonishment, "Huh, so that explains the blizzard earlier! No wonder the snowfall is so heavy and intense here! We're dead smack near Mount Everest!"
"Yep, we live exclusively on the mountain ranges," Alice put in, coming to stand by her mate. She appears thoughtful while adding in, "although some of our territory lies down below on the mainland. We have a pretty big territory."
"So you guys basically cover the entire mountain range? How are you able to live up here?" Aquarium wondered in return. He clutches his shoulders while beginning to shiver from the cold. Only thing that Aquarium wore was a basic loincloth. And he had nothing on his upper body; this changes when Aiden begins removing his own tunic from his muscular body.
"Here, take this. This should keep you warm during our journey back to our village." Aiden offers his own tunic to Aquarium from the kindness of his heart. The shivering blue leopard was hesitant to accept, not used to wearing someone else's clothing. But after considering his whereabouts, the blue leopard reluctantly accepts the tunic, putting it on.
While surveying the blue leopard and watching him put on the tunic, Aiden smiles in approval and gives him a thumbs-up, "See, it fits you! Now we can head on back home!"
"Home? What do you all plan on doing with me?" Aquarium questioned, hesitant. The bare-chested clouded leopard male assures Aquarium, "Hey, it'll be alright. You'll be assessed by our chieftain and he'll make the final call. He may seem daunting, but he's quite friendly once you get to know him."
This part about their chieftain catches Aquarium's interest, prompting him to ask, "What is your chieftain's name so that I'm able to meet him?"
"His name is Felix Vangarde. He's big and intimidating at first, but he is absolutely mellow when getting to know someone." Aiden briefly described their leader after revealing the name but as an afterthought, he further revealed the type of person he is.
"So in other words, he seems all big and bad but he's actually a big softie right?" Aquarium summarized, much to Aiden's and Alice's surprise. The two clouded leopards are silent at first when Alice speaks up. "When you put it that way, it makes some sort of sense. But in all honesty, yeah you're right."
The prospect of meeting their chieftain leaves Aquarium impressed and he rubs his hands together in preparation for the journey, "Alright so, when do we meet this guy?"
"Right now, actually! Come on, we were heading home anyway!" Aiden waves for the blue leopard to follow them and the trio soon set out for their journey back to the village.
Sitting inside of his tent, Felix watched the snow from inside his warm, cozy abode. Being the chieftain of his tribe, he had a lot to ponder about. Apart from being the leader, he certainly had a vast territory to look after. The dark gray furred male rubbed his chin lightly, wondering about the morale of his people. But then there was the thought of taking another trip throughout his large territory. Having made up his mind, Felix rises to his pawfeet and begins to head outside, donning his large cloak.
To say that Felix is built is an understatement. The dark gray leader stood at a large 6'9 with his dark gray fur ravaged by black spots and rosettes. His muscular body is only a medium gray, which is entirely left bare due to lack of spots or rosettes, and his eyes are indigo in color, giving him an imposing profile. Apart from his large cloak, his loincloth is dark blue and he also wears a light brown sash around his left side. The most impressive garment of his is the headband atop his head, which is black with silver outlines and a few feathers.
Felix strolls along the snowy trail, casting his indigo eyes about when he notices a trio of shapes coming towards him from his right. Turning to face them, Felix narrows his eyes in suspicion while wondering, 'Aiden and Alice have returned from their patrol, it seems. But who is that third leopard with them?'
Suspicious, Felix moves in to meet them, rushing to face them. The younger leopards stop to see Felix running to meet them, but Aquarium immediately pales at seeing the larger clouded leopard; scared, he quickly hides behind Aiden, trying to make himself disappear. However, the disappearing act fails as Felix can still make out the color difference.
Upon meeting the younger felines, Felix folds his arms while demanding, "Aiden, Alice, show me who you've brought up into our territory. Who is this newcomer?" His tone of voice and his hardened expression are betrayed by not only his curiosity but also the flash of intrigue in his indigo eyes. He watches the bare-chested male step aside to reveal the third party.
Moving aside, Aiden introduces Aquarium to their leader. "Aquarium, this is Felix, our tribal leader. He is also the chieftain of our village and controls our territory." He does the same with Felix in return, "Felix, this is Aquarium, a nomadic leopard we encountered during our patrol along the slope. He isn't hostile in any way, I assure you of that."
Felix smirked upon cutting his gaze to the blue leopard, placing his hands on his hips. "Well, this will be fun; most of these nomads passing through are either bandits or members from an enemy tribe. This is the first time a young nomad has been picked up while freely exploring." The chieftain then points over to the eastward direction, telling his two warriors, "You two can go now. I'll have this little guy with me."
Before leaving, Aiden and Alice spectate their chieftain stepping forward and drawing an arm around Aquarium's shoulders; he pulls the blue leopard closer to him for warmth while dealing with the effects of the cold weather. He also notices something else too and he grins, "Funny, I don't recall Aiden returning here bare-chested."
Aiden just stared while Alice hugged him, resting her hands on his abs. Aquarium didn't pick up on anything either under Felix mentioned Aiden's condition; the blue leopard becomes flushed while looking down at what he's wearing and he removes the tunic, handing it back to Aiden. "Sorry…" he apologized with a nervous smile.
"Hey don't be sorry, Aqua. You needed one anyway." Aiden commented in return while smiling in return. As Alice releases him, she turns to face both Felix and Aquarium while Aiden puts his tunic back on. She wonders, "What will you do with him, Felix?"
Felix is only grinning at her, laughing in return. "Ha ha ha ha ha…!!! You're treating me as if I'm gonna kill somebody! All I'm gonna do is talk with him and see what he's good at! He's welcome here, I can tell you that much!"
Surprised at the leader's claim, they all exclaim in unison, "Welcome??!"
"That's what I said! Now get out of here!" Felix laughs again while pointing in the eastward direction, telling Aiden and Alice to scat once more. They retreat without a word being said to him, leaving him and Aquarium all alone now. And Felix turns his attention to the blue leopard while grinning, "Now, where were we?"
Aquarium stares at Felix when the larger clouded leopard grabs him and lifts him up, placing the younger leopard atop his shoulders. His eyes widening in surprise, the blue leopard drops his gaze down to Felix, who smiles at him in return. "Let's get inside and see what you can do. After all, you're welcome here!"
