"And you're totally confident in this contraption of yours?"
A muffled and incredulous voice from within my belly said as I finished strapping on the new prototype jetpack.
"Sure! I mean, i've flown these before for quite some time" I say, and while true, it has been quite some time since I did get some air time with them as with my weight ballooning so quickly and permanently long ago it became quite impossible for the last one to do so much as lift me, merely blowing hot air.
"Yeah, yeah, but I mean have you tried while at this size?" Kio shot back.
He got me there, it took me so long to even attempt to make a new jetpack that the one I have now was considerably more powerful than the last. To the point where I was starting to worry about things like the center of thrust and the like. But, it shouldn't be too hard there, right? Just balance it out after a short hop and it'll all work out!
"Not yet, and that's what today is for!" I say as with a flick of a few switches, the jetpack's turbines begin a low whine and soon grow into a full on roar. This is it... I give a hop, or as much of a hop as I could and for one moment, just a moment, I hovered!
It was working, it was actually working! After so long of being grounded I could finally take to the skies... wait. The hover had soon turned into a rise, then a tilt as the jetpack started to rocket up and my belly lagged behind quite rapidly, this wasn't good...
It felt like forever but it was only seconds before I was catapulted head over hooves by the tremendous thrust from the pack and soon found myself tumbling end over end as the momentum carried me across the field. Thankfully it wasn't a total runaway as the jolt of the tumble had cut the jetpack's power and soon I came to a stop.
My luck stopped there again though as it had left me pretty much upside down, antlers jabbed into the ground and my belly sagging and pinning me to the spot. It jiggling not from the impact or tumble, but from the muffled and uproarious laughter of the slime dragon inside.
Well, guess it's as good as a landing as any that I can, eventually, walk away from and I got my answer. Adjust the center of thrust to match the center of mass...
Man, it's been forever since I drew Lu with the jetpack here and thought it was about time to try and get the gargantuan deer flying once more! Well, eventually anyways. And ey, last drawing for 2021!
