I was in the mood to do a little paw-related mini animation because, honestly, it's just kinda fun to watch the pawsluts squirm. So I whipped up a quick poll of all my models and asked the Patreon folks who they'd like to see in it!
I learned some interesting things. Apparently, fox paws are best paws, as two foxes won the vote handily. Even my generic fox girl model was pretty high in the votes with 20, only being beaten by BFCT with 26, who I believe is an outlier just because everyone loves BFCT in general. :P As a general rule, paw fans seem to prefer soft fluffy paws, as anything with pawpads did relatively well, all of them managing to hit at least double digits.
The other thing I learned is that nobody likes birb-talons apparently. The two birds on the list, Adhina (2) and BJ (4), lost the vote pretty dramatically, with Adhina here being notable because he only managed to get a measly two votes before I shut the voting down so I could start animating. I was a little surprised honeslty- here we've got a character I bothered to name and actually tried to do stuff with, and he was still beaten out even by non-characters such as "Kobold" (6), "Gryphon" (8), and even "Horse" (7). I'm not even sure how pawplay would work with a horse hoof...
Anyway, congratulations everyone. You managed to make an imaginary bird self-conscious about his feet. I hope you're happy. And you managed to make -me- feel bad about an imaginary bird, and if I have to suffer I guess you do too. Look how sad he is.
Oh, but look what time it is. Happy New Year! Silliness aside, the animation featuring the winners is currently rendering and will be on it's way shortly. This just popped into my head and demanded to exist for some reason so I made it a thing. :P

Generous offer! I'm honestly kind of tempted, just because after doing this I kinda want to see him happy too. x3 I think I'ma pass though- I spent all of NYE animating and drawing because I have a problem apparently, but I think I'ma just take the rest of it and chill now, and I have too-many outstanding obligations I need to get back into now that the holiday season is over to start picking up stuff on the side.
It's okay to be a lil' sad once in a while, I guess. But don't worry, I'm sure we'll see him his usual happy self again before too long. :P

Okay, hooved mammals (AKA ungulates - thank you, Gary Larson) kinda walk on their toes, and the hoof itself is a chitinous material that grows out over time. In the wild the hooves get worn down by the horse, y'know, doin' stuff and goin' places. They can be overgrown. They can be worn-down. Both of those can be really problematic for a horse, because horse biology is a long list of mundane events that can kill them. Humans invented horseshoes to solve this wear-and-tear. But to get horseshoes on, and have them matter, the hoof needs to be at a typical healthy level. Shaving it down is totally fine for the horse - like clipping a toenail. But since they're gigantic and ridiculous animals this is done with a hammer and chisel.

DAww ; v ; how cruel! Though not surprising. Paws and beans seem to be the main reason foot and paw fetishists exist (not like actually but they are the main draw from what I can tell x3), soft and supple souls are the cream of the crop, always looking the best for many and having the most potential for an enjoyable feeling.
Bird feet tend to not have that too much, the way they can move their feet is often very ridged, and the ridges upon them, while being a niche interest, isn't a *general* interest. I personally enjoy them immensely, but I also say that in terms of just finding birds to be great anthro's second only to dragons xD and I don't really have a foot/paw fetish what so ever. So for what they are I think they are great! But for most in the field a bird foot isn't really what they are going for ; v ;
I would like to offer the boy a tender hug and head pat though. Nothings wrong with him! I'm sure many that voted would be fine with his feet as well! ; v; they just aren't the *best*!

Yeah, I definitely understand why paw fans might not be so into birb feet. Kinda like sandpaper with knives attached, if I had to guess? I can sorta understand why soft toebeans might be more appealing, heh. Doesn't make him any less sad about it!

Oh, goddamnit. I just wanna snuggle him and tell him it'll be okay. Well, if he wouldn't mind girl cooties, that is. I'm not into feet in a sexual way, but I appreciate seeing them well drawn, and seeing interesting designs, and from an aesthetic point of view, I think his feet are pretty nifty. He's a fun character, too, and seems like someone who'd be fun to have as a pal. Poor lil thing.

It's very easy to see "Femboy" and think "Gay"- at least for me it is, even though it doesn't necessarily work that way, and I have to keep reminding even myself that he goes both ways. Doesn't help that he definitely immensely enjoys doing very gay things, so it's easy to make that assumption, hah. He just happens to also enjoy straight things!

I should know better, too, since my one boy is super feminine in appearance and enjoys wearing pretty clothes, but is definitely happy to sleep with anyone warm and willing. And has mostly been with girls, now I think of it. But hey, as long as Adhina is happy and loved, isn't that all that really matters?
I'd have thought a cute bird like Adhina would be a shoo-in, with those nice, flexible, grippy feets. I'm sure he'd be super gentle, and it couldn't be too different from those raspy, callused pads on a fox's foot. Ah well, never mind. I think he's super spiffy, and super cute as well. For whatever that's worth from someone on the wrong side of the field.
Foxes are hard to beat, it's true, and they're certainly my favorite playthings. But there's something about Adhina that's just very attractive, and I don't just mean in the throw him on the bed sort of way. He's always such a sweet guy, and I'm glad he's gonna be okay.
In the actual post I had a link to a post with all the characters named and numbered to match, so sadly it's not just because they didn't know his name. The paw fans just prefer foxes is all, apparently!

For what it's worth he'd probably take it as a compliment, he does go out of his way to look as feminine as possible for sure!

As my years of accumulated favs can attest, I love everything from hooves to talons (I have plenty of those drawn by me, even) and paws as well. The reason I voted BFCT and not one of the avians or reptiles is that I think their feet in your models are too scrawny, with the exception of the gryphon (oh no! I'm going to make Adhina even more self-conscious!). I love Adhina since the video where he got a BJ :D , just not his feet (oh noooooooo, big [stop complimenting me please] moment X'D)

SO this was true in 2018 (maybe not now) , but fear of birds tops the charts and outpaces the other like... 5 or 3 top fears combined. This means it bypasses fears of: the dark, open water, deep water, falling, heights, spiders etc.
SO while that is general irrelevant, you'll find bird and bird like features tend to be offputting to a generalized audience! Maybe this figure has changed since, but I know when I originally read this I was quite shocked. Hope that helps in future anythings :3.

Well, I am not a patron so I had no access to the polls, but I think the counts are slightly off, perhaps due to the relatively small and non-representative sample size? As a paw and hoof "appreciator" I can say that paws in particular are more popular just due to the soft and silky smooth paw pads most canine and feline-like paws have, as well as fuzzy fur and such, but bird talons still get a fair bit of traction in some circles, especially among people with avian OCs. It's just that good birb talon stuff is rare, so it may not come to mind when asked about paw stuffs. I do wish there were more pics and animations with bird talons, but sadly that is just not the case right now :\
As for the char itself, there is nothing wrong with their design, if they were mine I would have probably made the talons a tad longer and bigger, but that's a personal preference as I do like them strong, like here on the foreclaws, plus the ones he has right now work for him just fine... Overall the birb boy is good the way he is, perhaps people just don't know him well yet and thus didn't understand what the poll option stood for, going instead for chars they remember or generic species based on personal preference? It is a shame that there won't be more talon stuff after this poll, but hopefully this does not dissuade you from using the char in the future, he is lovely! <3

As for the char itself, there is nothing wrong with their design, if they were mine I would have probably made the talons a tad longer and bigger, but that's a personal preference as I do like them strong, like here on the foreclaws, plus the ones he has right now work for him just fine... Overall the birb boy is good the way he is, perhaps people just don't know him well yet and thus didn't understand what the poll option stood for, going instead for chars they remember or generic species based on personal preference? It is a shame that there won't be more talon stuff after this poll, but hopefully this does not dissuade you from using the char in the future, he is lovely! <3

Hah, well I'm flattered for the offer! But not something I should be doing right now. I've got a standing "take no new commissions" rule until I finish up my existing waiting list, as a way to motivate myself to actually finish up the dang waiting list. But don't worry, I'm sure we'll be seeing plenty more of the birb and his feet in the future. :P

Not only is it heartbreaking to see him sad, and a terrible misfortune to be stuck on opposite sides of the fourth wall and unable to give him a massive hug, but there's a cruel irony that Adhina's talons are genuinely the only time I've had any interest in any form of foot-appendage-thing (normally ambivalent about anthro forms, and hard turn-off with humanoid form and a lot of the things that end up with feet). Everything about him is already wonderful, and the way you draw and animate his talons made something click, particularly the painting with Ash and the Red Dragon animation. I appreciate Sy telling him what I would have if I could have been there, and I wish that I could help him become more comfortable and realize that his talons are indeed lovely.
