SUMMARY: A serious, non-yiffy short story, written for the War Dogs Association of America, and specifically for the charity Book of the Dead for FurFright 2010. A young fox realizes the true importance of not only respecting those who give their lives for us, but also of always moving forward.
Guess what: This is my first (I think) NON-yiff story.
I finally finished what I believe will be my final revision of this piece. I screwed up many times in terms of submitting it to the wrong person, then making it TOO short, then making it TOO long, blah blah blah.
This story was written for the United States War Dogs Association of America, which FurFright 2010 is aiding for the second year in a row. Please read more about this important charity:

I think it's somewhat of a "selfish" piece, to be perfectly honest. When I hear about charities like this (or anything involving veterans), I can't help but feel envious of the heroes, depressed for their situations, and even angry at the countries who take such honourable men and women and put them in the bleakest of situations, sometimes causing irreparable damage (and it's even worse for the war dogs, in my opinion).
But what I always forget is to stop being so self-centered, live on, and actively honour the duty of our country's heroes. I wrote this piece to convince myself of this truth, and to raise awareness to others, as well as attempt to lift the spirits of those who might be afflicted by the tragedies of war.
Read the story at your leisure, read the journal entry pasted above, and do a little something to help others be aware of the War Dogs' plight at https://www.uswardogs.org

As always, you make me feel like a million bucks. *holds you close*
Thank you so much. I only hope everyone else likes it, too, and that it achieves its purpose in promoting awareness and galvanizing others (including myself).
Talk to you soon, Hanugumo! Take care!!! *big BIG loving hugs*

*Holds you closer to me and blushes* To had, I wanted to make you feel like a trillion bucks. ^.//////.- *giggles and licks you lovingly* Just kidding, I'm super mega glad I made you feel like that Marc.
*nods* No worries, I'm sure they & it will. ^.=.- I loved it & it did do it's purpose with me. <=3 *blushes* I-I actually thought the same (a little bit) about all the soldiers that died in wars, but this story definitely taught that part of me what's more important. ^.=.^ *hugs you tightly and nuzzles* You are truly magical with words my beloved friend.
*nods* We'll definitely talk soon, Marc & no worries I will, as long as you are doing well I am too. ^.//////.^

After revising it, shortening it ,and lengthening it, I guess I just got sort of tired with all the editing and didn't know what to do. I hope this final revision is good enough (it was originally longer, but it has to be under five pages for the charity book).
I'm just glad that it's DONE at last. Let me know what you think. *hugs and thanks you for all your encouragement, love, and friendship*

I just finished reading it.. i have to say.. i loved it.. it made me feel different.. i almost end up with a teardrop at the end..
Sure wished to have read the longer one, this is a nice story.. and i see why you had to write it for yourself.. i only hope that it served its purpose and you are able to see things as you intended in the story.
*Hugs you close* no need for thanks.. that's what i do.. just.. cause.. ^^
Again.. be happy, be safe, be yourself.. and know that you are a great person and that you give to others, maybe you don't notice it, but you do ^^ *Hugs you again and smiles*

Thank you for the comment. I know how you feel, and they definitely deserve moreā¦.but unfortunately, I still have not learned the lesson that the fox in this story learns. I still feel ashamed and depressed when I think about the military, and I don't do anything to honor or respect them, since I am lazy and don't think about them enough. Actions speak louder than words, so...*goes quiet, not knowing what to say*
I guess my story is rather hypocritical if I don't follow its lesson. So...I'm sorry. :(
