You are right :)
Too often I hear sentences like "I cannot tell him xxx..."... so she (it's usually typical for females :() rather just leaving unclear hints all around surronded by telling something and thinking something different - this is really NOT nice behaviour, leaving everybody feeling stupid and totally misunderstood. I'm so so happy that we both with Dreit feel this the same way and rather are honest to each other. It makes life way easier :)
