Old Gimpy Walkcycle

waccoon reminded me of this ... not sure how old it is. The file property says it was created in 2004 and last modified in 2002, so that's no help. Anyway, this was my first attempt at an animation, in all its jerky glory. Hand-drawn, with each frame individually scanned. Cripes, that was a pain.
Animation's something I've always kind of wanted to get into. Same with 3D. I'll have these sudden bouts of creativity where I'll be adventurous and try something new, then I'll go stagnant for years at a time.
Need to learn Flash one of these years ...
Creating a thumbnail for this is proving to be a monumental task. PSP6 just crashes outright ... GIMP won't let me adjust the levels, even if I use one of the individual images the animation is made from. "Levels for indexed layers cannot be adjusted". WHAT layers? There's ONE. It's not TIMED like the layers in the animation are. Why are you being so difficult? Can't do this, can't do that ... see, this is why I have to use half a dozen different programs. In PSP6 all I'd have to do is go to Colors > Increase Color Depth. But on any other program it's some kind of archaic ritual involving chicken blood and a virgin sacrifice. Screw it, I'm going to bed.

I like the momentum of the arms.
"Levels for indexed layers cannot be adjusted"
An "indexed" image uses a small, fixed palette of color. Usually, this is 256 colors or less. This is different from an RGB or greyscale image, which uses the maximum gamut of colors (or grey tones) the computer supports. You have to convert an indexed color image into greyscale or RGB color to adjust levels, brightness, and most other tasks. All GIF images are indexed color by default. All JPEG images are imported as either greyscale or RGB by default (or some other full-gamut color system, such as CMYK). PNG images can be anything.

Got a tablet? Plastic Animation Paper. www.plasticanimationpaper.dk :D
Well, there's also toonboom studio, at www.toonboom.com, but PAP has a free version, and their full-studio-version is much cheaper than ToonBoom Opus/Solo. :P
