I drew this right after my dog died. Obviously I struggled with it. But I still really loved this homage to my sweet little prince. He was with me through THE hardest times in my life. I am realizing now far too long a list to write out one at a time. So I'll just stick to explaining this comic.
When he was teeeeeeny tiny, I loved to scoop him up when someone entered the room: point his CUTE lil snout at 'em, and cock his long body like a shot gun. It was the cutest thing, and I was so happy he trusted me like that. He was a good boy... Mostly... :)
But I suppose I'm only mostly a good girl... so it's fair...
Rest in peace Mookie.
(And anyone who knows where his name is from gets brownie points!!! ^ ^)

I've heard it said that pets, are a beautiful tragedy as we will always outlive them
(Unless your like 90 and raising a tortoise)
Your puppers now waits at the rainbow bridge and will probs tackle you, and par drown ya in kisses when it's your turn to walk across it.
You gave him a warm and loving home, good food, and attention. That's all your pup could ask for

I really like that...
I always remind myself that having them in my life was simply worth the pain. it sucks they are gone. But I wouldn't want to trade it for no time at all to save the heartache. And that pretty much makes everything inside settle down.
(HA! That would be really amazing to experience. Throw your pet a fiftieth!)
I also really like the Chinese "bridge of memories" concept. As I was told, there are many regional variations: But ultimately boils down to at the end of life, you wander till you find a bridge. And a bridge keeper gives you three mugs of tea, and as you drink them, you find your memories fading. You cannot cross the bridge until you have given up all your memories. Maybe he's just hanging out there trying to convince the bridge keeper to play. <3 (our cat Laharl off in the bushes to find prey)
In any case, I've been doing really good with accepting it. To be honest, his death got overshadowed by a lot of other events. But we're getting through it. Life has to keep going. (Our remaining cat LOVES being an only child ^ ^;)
What I found most beautiful about the bridge of memories though: was actually the very end. That whenever you feel like you've known someone a long time even though you only just met them... that it's just the droplets at the bottom of the cup...

AAAAAAAHHH <3
I love it.
Oh man. Today I went into the bathroom and almost started crying. Sometimes he didn't want to lay on a bed, or even HIS bed, because he really liked laying on the bathroom rug. And I cleaned them yesterday so they are all soft and cuddly like he loved. He was so worth all the feels. I just gots to share em.
