M16’s 20 round magazine was introduced in 1964 until three years later, 30 round magazine was adopted in 1967. After the Vietnam War ended, 30 round detachable firearm magazine proposed by NATO in October 1980. Also, a 25 round magazine as been add, the original prototype of 25 round was designed in the late 1950's for ArmaLite AR-15 with straight-walled and waffle pattern, and they were not adopted as the standard military issue. In late 2010's, Brownells Inc. recreates the early experimental Vietnam Era AR-15's 25 round Straight Box Magazines which gain popularity from gun enthusiasts.
