John Deere Urban tactical assault tractor
I saw this beast of a tractor today on a area dairy farm. This monster has 3 foot wide tracks, weighs almost 9 tons and seat 3.
As the tractor user described as a "Tactical Assault Tractor".
Plus looks like something
graue_wolfe would appreciate, seeing how its a massive beastly machinery.

It's tractors and companies like John Deere that are the biggest cause of the "farm crisis."
Farmers went really heavily into debt, to buy the "latest model" tractor or farm machinery like this one, impressive as it is, I really don't see what it would be used for.
So then farmers can't pay off the huge loans they took out, to buy these big expensive toys, and their farms are bought up by developers.

Construction firms would use something like that, too, to pull multiple earth scrapers across a site to level it out. The tank-tread style also gives better traction and spreads out the load more when you're trying to work in wet or slippery conditions.
Like many specialized tools, it's designed for a particular set of applications, not necessarily as a general-purpose tool for all applications.

There are good reason for it's existence but it's not for every farmer and some have indeed indebt themself because of this bad decision.
These are the good reasons to buy one.
1) For someone who sells land grading services. One would need such a tractor with its 600 hp engine to level and grade fields.
2) For someone who has a huge farm with acre upon acre of land where it's difficult to get labor. That tractor can do the work of about 5 conventional tractor removing the need for 5 workers. However today there is also the option of electronically linking 5 conventional tractor together and using only one driver doing the same work and being more versatile and less costly when a job only need to have one conventional tractor, leaving the rest at the barn.
3) Eventhoug it's huge, believe it or not, it's one of lightest tractor on the farm ground per square inches that will not compact the soil and will less likely get suck in mud. However, when they do... You're in trouble. LOL
If a farmer does not fit into reason, 1 or 2 then they SHOULD NOT buy that thing. You know, just the fuel bill alone... It's 600 hp!
BTW I own a farmland which is not that big, and still use my venerable old John Deere 6410! They are very sturdy, don't break as often as those huge ones, are not finiky because they don't have any electronic, and can be repaired without a computer and exclusive dealer software.

When plowing the south 40 miles, or when you need to get a stuck Russian tank out of your fields.

Yeas, it is a big, bad ... lawn decoration. These tractors are designed to bleed their owners dry. There are computer modules for everything including the seats and doors and if any of these Chinese made computers has a tiny glitch the $700,000 tractor will be sitting around rusting until a dealer can send a technician with a proprietary computer that only the dealer can use to reset the cigarette lighter after sitting and waiting 3 months and $1000. It is why 20 year old tractors with no computers are selling for better than new prices and rebuilt engines and parts are nonexistent right now. That is why farmers are trying to fight for the right to repair while dealing with clueless "series of tubes" legislators.
I know because I live this problem everyday at my job. We have had forklifts less than a month old be down for 9 months waiting on parts and their "technicians" can't find the issue. I eventually found the issue was a rubber glove left in the fuel tank when it was built and yet the dealer tried to stick us with a $10K bill for all the diagnostic time they had on the machine, under warranty. They changed their tune when our lawyers presented the dealer with a bill for the lost production and the time wasted by our maintenance personnel who had to actually find and repair the problem (namely me and I ain't cheap). Needless to say we will not be purchasing any more of these machines.
They are essentially shooting themselves in the foot if they think that will fly with their customer.
People will get fed up change their equipment for company who are more customer-friendly.
Then they will have a real hard time trying to bring back customers to their product.
It's not like they are the only one out there.

Small firms, at least in my region, had already looking into chinese machines right now, especially for lighter construction, industrial and agricultural sector. For one they still use a more maintenance-friendly, fuel-tolerant, Tier-2 fuel injection pump instead of ECU commonrail system, secondly their spare parts are more available in the market, at much lower price, and any mechanic with some understanding of diesel engine and pilot hydraulics can easily fix them.
Sure their lifetime are shorter compared to japanese/western machines, and the resell value is not as good. But they cost only one-third compared to equivalent western machines and do the job quite as well.

Whichever chinese brand you buy, fat chance the engine will be a chinese iteration of Deutz BFM. They pitched it as Weichai or Yuchai or whatever, it's all the same engine.
You need to pay close attention to the part numbers though, their standardization is horrible due to components made in "home industries", sometimes parts of two engines even from the same model and same year don't match.

The pumpkin festival parade here has entries by John Deere owners, and the International Harvester owners. Then there's the antique tractor display at the MI Thumb Octagon Barn event in the Fall. Some of them steam powered.
There's a military vehicle collector's club in the state, but they tend to show up at airshows, fly-ins, living history events, and the Air-to-Ground Gunnery Range near Waters, MI. Lotsa "Brrrrrrt! at that one.

Funny, Our holding company is actually the sole dealer for Deere in Indonesia, that also includes Deere stationary and marine engine (yes, Deere do have stationary engine for gensets and pumps). I work in one of its bigger subsidiaries that sells Volvo, i do have a lot of friends there though.
That being said, i don't think we've ever sell 9R/RX series tractor over here, it's so big there's simply no market for it here. For those not in the know, 570 in 9570RX denotes its engine power in HP. For comparison that's almost as strong as Volvo FH16 610 prime mover that were used to haul triple trailer for paper industry in Sumatra, with 70T capacity EACH trailer. Now THAT'S one hell of a beast.

I'll try to get some picture of Liebherr 11350 that one of my costumer has, that's another beast you gotta see
