He was the worthiest treasure and hero of the story behind the myth of Theseaus vs the Minotaur, but seems the story got changed significately as a monster, because of totally ommiting on the high complex and refined ancient civilization of pre-Greek Minoan Crete island predating the arrival of the earliest Greeks on nearby mainland of Greece which rivalred and later invaded the previous civilization when it got in decline after a series of natural disasters and other demographic invasions from outsiders which overthrown their former power and so all the richer lore of that ancient high culture got erased and deformed so his mighty god-like being became just a monster meant to be killed by a human hero upcoming from mainland after the alleged rumors of human sacrifices to him as a maneater-cannibalistic one, but... probably all was very missleading on the true sacred higher mysteries around him, being the worthiest one heroic primordial-creational-archetype so long forgotten and misstaken for a villain then. Gladfully new art in contemporary art seems to rethink about who was the monster and who was the hero in that story, and I love a lot the versions where both him and the human male bond each other, and the hero also releases him and both run away together, though he is kept in secret as his special worthy treasure after the deal, elaborating the whole ruse about him killing the other and well that makes sense why later on all the female relationships of Theseus got so awry in the end, and how the simple human was able to do a lot of big heroic deeds in mainland too, which didn't make sense by a single human dude, unless he was always aided by someone else in the shadows never leaving him apart.
