I was woken up a few minutes ago by shocked family, our Pekingese, Ming the Merciless died of a sudden heart attack.
It wasn't expected at all. He was bouncing about as his usual self minutes prior to go outside and breakfast.
Ming was a rescue, we got him in May 2002 and won out at the shelter among 12 applicants for him.
'Lil Grunty', The Fierce Dog of Foo was our mobile radar unit, alerting us to strangers faster than the bigger dogs. Notorious for snoring loudly and sleeping stiff legged like road kill. Ming was notorious for the ability of sleeping just about anywhere, like this shot of him sleeping on a dufflebag that was on the floor a few minutes.
Ming was a real joy and now we have a huge hole in our hearts.
A hell of a thing to wake up to.

sorry for your loss lost my dog earlier this year after 11 yrs he was a mutt an stray and my best friend there funny and smart loyal and carring the dag know when your hurtting even wjen your wounds dont breed many say to the dog ancient pack mentallity but i heard a sayying from his vet.some tine like this " there is a god and angles watching over us all an he given us aspecial guardian called the dog how do i know this ? ......because dog is god spelled back wards.

im so sorry for ur loss...in 1993, we had to put our family cat to sleep...she was like 15, and had like a kitty version of Alzheimer's, plus some other stuff wrong...it hurt so much cuz we had had her since she was a kitten...our pets are members of our family, and their loss is almost as great as losing a human member of our family...i dread the day something happens to my Friskie kitty (he's 10 and in good health, but u never know)...

my mom and i had a dog for almost ten years
and one day she got out from our house and ran over to the neighbor's yard
where there were three huge dogs that pretty much mauled her
we took her to the vet but they said there was nothing they could do
so they put her to sleep
i still can't go home to my mom's place without remembering that day...

We used to raise cats, 5 acres in placerville and like 100 free-range kittehs. near the end we had a little of the most adorable loving cats. unfortunately they were allergic to fleas.

May I suggest if you can go get another rescue, something that looks like it needs alot of love.
Oh man, I am sorry to hear that. Nobody should hear that upon waking up. I'm pretty sure the sympathies of a lot of people here on FA go out to you.
Nothing is sadder then losing a loved one, pets totally do count because after awhile, their family, not just a pet. And he looked like one helluva character too.

My condolence, Jim. As a fellow pet owner, I am facing the fact that my furry little brother is getting old (age of 9) and I've been regretting that I haven't been the best owner (well, Dongdi is the family pet, I am the prime care-giver) for quite certain amount of time.

my doggeh passed away last december - i haven't found it to replace her [almost found one, but the no kill shelter didn't wanna adopt to me. they found reasons to not adopt that dog to me, so i can't really support them.
if i get another one, it will come from the pound, n get them off death row there.

Sorry this happened, Rabbi-Tom. At least he brought your family joy, and you kept him fed and happy and safe. No dog could ask for better than that. You were blessed with your time with him.

Sorry to hear Rabbi...and hope with your other dog wont go that bad...When my old doggie passes out, I dunno what I wil do later...too many years, its part of the family. Ming may be now in a better place, with lots of bones and fluffy clouds to sleep on. *hugs* *and kicks on Krats' balls*
sorry for the loss, i had myself a pekingese once and he died 3months ago but still is feels hard to be without him. he became 15years and 8months old so he was like a little brother to me. they are so cute and adorable you can never stop loving them. you get my symphaty for Ming. hope he's has it better in dog heaven.
