ain't that the truth... if you think about it there will always be the need to allow deals and lobby work. but why do big-time politicians also be part of big-ass companies? they get paid a lot to be independent!
instead they become greedy. germany ain't no exception. many are lawyers, some come from professions, used to have their own little business and retired, but some are... nothing. one ministress of the green party is said to have no competence in nothing... by her staff. how comes she gets to lead a ministry?
also, Ursula von der Leyen. failed as minister for family stuff. failed even harder as minister for agriculture. topped it off as minister for digital affairs (she wasted 50k of tax money on a stop sign for the internet), and added insult to injury by riding the Bundeswehr into the ground finally. so we parked her in Brussels.

The problem with democracy is that people good at being elected are elected, not people good at governing. The old programmer lingo, Garbage in, garbage out. That said it's still better than anything else we have found. Not that this is saying much.
