NZ post being useless again. I had a package sit in Auckland for nearly two weeks. It only got delivered after I rang them to complain.

Sounds like there's a history there. You have my sympathy.

Aus post said it was in Auckland. NZ post said it was in Sydney. I had to deal with this at work before so when I rang them I told them I knew it was in Auckland and to go look in the Customs area like last time.

The package arrived the next day.

From personal experience, shipping packages anywhere east of Poland is really hit and miss. Lying on customs forms is basically mandatory. The goal is to make it sound like something not worth stealing.

Letters tend to make it just fine.

I ordered a copy of Guardians of the Galaxy, Volume Two. USPS Tracking showed it Out for Delivery for a week after it was supposed to be in my box. I notified the USPS and the local Post Office called me. Um, how is it they couldn't find the package, but they knew exactly what was in it?

US Postal Service is just as bad as Russian Postal Service because I have lost count on how many packages were marked as "delivered" and never arrived. And sometimes marked as delivered and then show up a week later! Very annoying!!!

I know what you mean, I sent a box of DVD's to a guy I know in another state, it arrived looking like it had been used as a football.
Banged up, torn, ragged.
Fortunately the DVD's were in a spindle, so they weren't damaged.

And I know enough Cyrillic now to read "Pochta Rossii" which I'm assuming means "Russian Post."

If its any consolation, the US post office ain't much better. When you are mailing something and you have the flag up it can be days for them to pick up because they don't like stopping if they don't have anything to put in your mail box.

No. More like incompetent lazy thieving employees who are never disciplined or fired. Just like in the US Postal Service.

thats why you should have shipped it DHL, since they are like one of the few international shipping companies.

I used to do logistics for Syria. If anyone can get it there DHL can.

As a german, I can confidently say DHL is VERY Hit and Miss too, especially over the last few years. Not so much outright thievery, but due to Covid and other current and past goings on, they had to massively up their personnel and well, many aren't trained well and are under massive time constraints. So you end up with packages being marked as "delivered" despite never reaching their destination or even coming close because the deliveryperson "couldnt find the adresse", then drove to the next stop, or you arent home and they just leave it INSIDE the Apartment buildings floor or better yet, outside on the porch.

That's the worst cases tho and thankfully, I wasn't a victim of those. I WAS a "victim" of them handing off the package over to my care, saying they will leave a note that "it was left with a neighbor" in the original recipients postbox...and then not doing that. So I had to sometimes hold on for neighbors packages for WEEKS because I couldn't catch em and they didn't knew I had their package.
