A young dog finally relishes her dream of running her own animal daycare center due to her love for animals. This is a short-length writing commission for CritterBones from ToyHouse!

Animal Daycare

The local animal daycare is bustling with activity once Coco comes inside to see how everything is going. It is her first animal daycare she's opened and quite frankly, the Beagle is excited, yet nervous at the same time. Though she loves animals, she's more worried about handling them in the wrong way.

So far, ever since Coco opened her daycare to the public, she has been doing quite well in keeping her furry clients satisfied and happy. There are still a few pets inside, all of which are different breeds. Some are different dog breeds, others are different cat breeds.

After coming into the room, Coco pops on the light and begins to take a look around, analyzing the room. Coincidentally, the moment Coco is in the midst of analyzing her surroundings is the moment she is suddenly blindsided in a tackle by one of the clients…

*PUNCH!*

"OOH!" Coco slams into her side upon being tackled by one of the clients, and before she can even eye the culprit responsible, she begins giggling from feeling a wet tongue repeatedly lapping against her cheek.

It was one of the dogs that was excited upon seeing Coco, and after spotting her, it ran up to her and jumped on her before attacking her on the face with wet kisses.

The beagle just giggles at the wet kissing against her face and she immediately raises up, prying the culprit away from her when she notices the dog responsible. It is an excited American Bully with golden fur throughout its form, its hazel eyes holding happiness in them and it also has its tongue out in excited panting.

After the brief interaction, Coco finally gets up once the American Bully leaves her to begin walking around to explore and look around at his surroundings. This leaves the beagle to trail her gaze over to the remaining cages, leaving her with the conclusion to unlock them as well.

There are at least 5 other cages, each one containing a pet animal. It could be a cat; it could be a dog. It depends on whether Coco opens the cages or not.

The beagle unlocks each cage after the other and out of each one emerges a cat. The first cat is a fluffy ragdoll with silky white fur and vibrant blue eyes; a tomcat, in fact. The moment he emerges from the first cage, he meows softly, stretching for a bit before attempting to climb up Coco's right side.

The second cat, a Russian Blue tomcat, emerges from his cage in a standard gait, trailing his lime green eyes around the room. Once he catches sight of Coco, he meows at her and sits down, lightly licking his lips. He sees the beagle petting the ragdoll, switching between the silky cat and the rest of the cages.

The third and fourth cats, an Abyssinian and a Bengal, both dart out of their cages. These two go their separate ways in exploring the room, though the two couldn't help but turn towards Coco, resting their eyes on her. Seconds later, the Abyssinian then jumps on Coco, also taking her to the ground.

*PUNCH!*

"Whoa!!!" After being thrown to the floor, Coco stares up at the Abyssinian standing on top of her and she picks him up while beginning to stand up again, telling the cat, "You need to go play and get off me; I have work to do!"

Coco sets the Abyssinian down and begins to focus back on her own work, watching the tomcat leave. After working on the food for her feline clients, the beagle turns her attention to the fifth cage and unlocks up, this time catching a light blue / ivy Maine Coon and picking her up. Staring into the cat's raspberry eyes, Coco gently sets it down while softly rubbing its head. She gives the cat a soft tap on the nose while whispering, "Oh you are so cute and beautiful, y'know?"

Soft purring comes from the female cat from being comfortable around the beagle and she starts rubbing her head on Coco, meowing softly. After some intimacy, Coco bids the Maine Coon a temporary farewell and moves her attention to her only canine client.

After leaving the room, leaving the cats to themselves, Coco enters the dog room and calls out, "Zeus, where are you??!!"

Seconds later, the same golden dog that tackled her earlier is the same one that comes bounding up to her, a wide, happy smile on the dog's face upon running to meet her. There is another dog in the room, a gray / white American Bully who is just observing from the sidelines.

"Hey there, boy! Are you glad to see me? Are you glad to see me?" Coco caresses the golden dog who happens to raise up again, beginning to lick her face in excitement. The gray / white dog comes up to her too, but he just sits, waiting for his turn.

Eventually, Coco manages to separate herself from the jovial golden furred dog, turning her attention to the gray / white dog next, gently scratching his chin and face. "Hey Rocky, are you boys excited about your first day?"

Rocky just stares at Coco, his nose wiggling ever so often. If dogs could speak, he'd let her know what he wanted. He utters a short bark and licks his mouth, yawning afterwards. However, it isn't until Rocky sets his chocolate eyes on Coco that he gets up, becoming fixated on a ball the beagle grabbed.

Zeus drops into a playful stance, running around while Coco holds the tennis ball in the air that the beagle playfully asserts, "You want it? You guys want it?"

Upon seeing an empty area of the room, Coco throws the tennis ball over in that area, watching both dogs scamper off to retrieve it. "Go get it!"

While the golden bully reaches the ball first, he grabs it right as Rocky moves in. The two dogs rush back to Coco and deposit the ball before her, waiting for her to throw it again. The back and forth fetch play goes on for a few more minutes until the two dogs are ready for their break. Coco has already supplied their bowls with food and water, so the two canines have no problem at all with filling themselves up.

With the two dogs occupied, Coco returns to the cat section and finds all five cats lounging and exploring the area. The Abyssinian and Bengal are engaged in play-fighting in the middle of the floor while the Russian Blue and the Ragdoll tomcats are above them, lounging. The only one that runs to meet Coco is the female Maine Coon, who utters a soft meow and begins rubbing against Coco's legs.

"Hello there! Did you and your friends miss me?" Coco gently caresses the affectionate cat in return, happy to see the Maine Coon as well. She is happy to see all of them too, but this female kitty has captured Coco's attention the most. Just then, the beagle makes her way out of the room to step out for a few minutes to try out an idea that just entered her mind.

A short time later, Coco enters the cat room, setting a harness and leash down on the ground to get her clients' attention. The ragdoll tomcat is the first to investigate, pawing at it and sniffing it. He glances up at Coco until she picks up the harness and puts it on him, attaching the leash to it. The Russian Blue just stayed on his perch, watching lazily from above while the Abyssinian and the Bengal tomcats both checked the harness and leash out. They didn't seem that much interested in it either. The female Maine Coon showed more interest, even biting at the harness at one point. However, the ragdoll bats her in the face, resulting in both cats jumping away.

Coco can see the tiny tension, but she isn't sure what to do. She nervously steps out again, "Um, I'll be back." And she disappears, leaving the cats all alone again. A short time later, the beagle returns with a second harness and leash, attaching these to the Maine Coon. She's going to walk the cats outside in the yard located out back, just to give them some outdoor exercise.

Coco soon picks up the leashes to both harnesses and begins leading the Maine Coon and the Ragdoll outside, unlocking and opening the back door for them to romp outside in. She joins them a short time later, having also gotten the dogs outside too. If all goes well, then the rest of the day will go smoothly and Coco will have completed her first successful day at her animal daycare.
