It is a pretty good drawing, I wish it was colored. The 'Red' growls at 'White', baring their teeth. Their battered coat with poorly made patch ups telling us how much they gone through. They grip at their rifle and point a bayonet towards 'White', showing their hatred that was fueled by long crisis of the country they living in. 'Red' is a part of people that want to act, they want changes, they crave for freedom and they are tired of waiting.
While the 'White' places a banner with holy drawing in front of 'Red', showing their faith and loyalty to God. It is their reason why they fight, it is their truth and reality. Their figure is towering the 'Red' one, showing that they position themselves higher than simple people - closer to God. Their mouth is agape, meaning that they speak something. I can guess, they tell about patience, they trying to tell 'Red' that they just need to wait untill everything will be solved by 'Tsar'.
It is clear that 'Red' and 'White' are both ready to fight, but they're waiting when the boy that sits between them will choose the side. The boy seems to be fallen by accident, his body language tells us it. He fixes his hat that shifted a bit during the fall, and he noticed that he dropped his right glove. He doesn't look at 'Red' or 'White', he seems to not even notice them. It is literally embodiment of most people that lived in those times. They need to decide, but they don't even want to (because the boy doesn't even looks at them). People want both changes for better future and faith to live for something. But gaze of a boy fixed on his fallen glove. Glove is an embodiment of what people crave for: for warmth, for food, for home - they crave for stability. And yet they are stuck to make their choice just between two flames.
I am pretty sorry if suddenly startled by this amount of text, but if to be short - I enjoyed this drawing, thank you!
(And I am sorry if it was pain to read, I am not native English speaker.)
