Progression! Things are moving forward, tension is building... The "Auction the Magic Book" scheme is put into motion, and possibly it's bearing fruit? Certainly is an unpleasant fellow we meet, isn't it. In addition, there's some combat happening, though it raises more questions than it answers! Maybe we should get Mandy some armor and a sword, find a way to have Lance teach her how to fight. Wouldn't that be fun? ^_~

This chapter was a little delayed. I'm a little worried, I feel like maybe I bit off more than I could chew when I plotted out where things are going. But the only way out is through, so to speak, so I'm going to have to just do my best. I hope I don't end up falling flat on my face, anyway. I might take a small break and start up a second story series, since my mind keeps trying to focus on that instead. But I didn't want to delay chapters of this story for one that'd hit a lot of the same notes, you know? I don't know, I'm just playing everything by ear, and I don't even have those!

The chapter weighs in at 6432 words, just barely shorter than last chapter. And with only a few scenes to it, it still feels short. It's hard to say. With it, Book 2 comes up to 79,518 words, and we are nearing the climax of it, so I guess I'm on pace for it, but sometimes I worry I'm treading water and not getting anywhere? Maybe if I were to write it into a solid book, I would go through and try to trim things up a bit. It's hard to say, I never expected to go this far, so I don't have things like "outlines" and "plans", mostly. I know what people are doing and what plans they have, and I know how I want things to go, but I don't have anything written down for it since it can change as chapters get written. ^_^;;

Update - 11/06/22: I've added a small bit (bringing it up to 6873 words) to the scene in the hospital room, having Tola give a healing potion to Mandy. This is because I made a bit of an oops, I kinda forgot about her broken leg later on. It was either this, or rewrite the entire showdown later, and I decided to do it this way. Patching this plot hole has been a necessary step to being able to continue the story, but I didn't really have a good option, so I've been putting it off. Combined with a lot of other events in my life, a small delay turned into quite a long one. With any luck, there'll be a new chapter soon. ^_^;;
