Due to numerous requests... alright, maybe one or two requests (but you know who you are!)... I've decided to post the entire 2001 ad-fur-tisement for my spoof of Steven Spielberg's movie "A.I." - "I.F.: Imitation Furry" (the logo of which I'd posted one week ago).
At the turn of this century, 'furry fandom' was at its maximum heights - with the popularity of conventions such as "Con-Fur-ence", the "Midwest Fur Fest", and the fledgling "Megaplex" (known, in its first year, as "Furry Spring Break"). However, an anti-furry faction cast a pall over said fandom, by displaying its 'negative side' - first with an MTV expose, followed by an illustrated article in "Vanity Fair".
Deciding to lampoon these particular pinheads, I took it upon myself to create an ad parody (originally made for the APAzine "Rowrbrazzle"), touching on the subject of 'furries' and their critics. Thus, "I.F." was born.
Displaying my talent as a gag smith, I poked fun at the various corporation logos (at the bottom of said ad) by making various animal references. At the time, Warner Brothers was owned by a conglomerate of AOL and Time-Warner - which, in itself, was just as much folly as 'furry fandom'! (Or, as comedian Robin Williams expressed: "You've got mail... I hope you have stock!") So, naturally, I'd changed the name of said conglomerate to Owltime-Marmot. Of course, I'd also poked fun at the negativity expressed by the magazine, by changing its name to "Vanity Fur".
And had I'd made this ad parody today, the lead role for the film would've played by someone else, like Brad Pitt (or one of that crowd)! In any event, enjoy this satire of mine - supposedly rated PG-13 (for teenagers and up, who are destined to go to PurGatory)!
