A pair of felines with different personalities create an unlikely friendship between each other after a chance encounter and meeting. But is it going to be a mutual friendship? This is a trade between me and Makey-Pool from ToyHouse!

Feline Acquaintances

Echo calmly strolls down the sidewalk, minding his own business. The young feline is just aimlessly wandering along the sidewalk, keeping to himself. When he raises his head up, the young cat notices a sign on one of the buildings he's passing by with the name of the establishment in capital white letters: SWEET TOOTH CAFE. When Echo notices the sign, his curiosity gets the better of him and he steps inside to check out the place for himself.

Entering the small establishment, Echo is greeted by a vendor / diner display at the front and a restaurant setting throughout the rest of the establishment. Around the area he is standing in is a dining area, small and simple, yet adequate and comfortable. That is just the outside dining area. Inside is a bit more roomy. Curious, Echo enters the small establishment to check it out for himself.

Once Echo enters inside, he gives off a surprised squeak. For a small place, the interior sure outclasses the exterior in a way. Burgundy floor, light brown walls, menu boards above the register, one may think they're walking into an actual restaurant. There are also a variety of pastries inside of the display cases, ranging from simple items like cookies to more breakfast items like muffins and doughnuts.

While Echo is staring around, he is primarily interested in the display case. But a voice snaps him out of his train of thought while attracting his attention. "Can I help you?"

Echo raises his head and is met with the sight of a female feline staring at him. She appears ready to go on break. Her amber eyes held an expression of exhaustion and annoyance upon glancing at the tomcat customer.

The tomcat jumps, startled. Then he goes into what he would like for his order, "Oh! Uh, I'll have a chocolate chip muffin to start off with and a couple of cookies."

"Anything else you want?" The female vendor inquired while still staring at Echo.

"I'll also have a bottle of apple juice too." The tomcat added.

Outside the diner, the female vendor appears to be more relaxed and calm while allowing Echo to sit with her. The tomcat, on the other hand, is munching on his stuff while keenly observing the female. The vendor happens to take notice, something that Echo is unaware of.

"My name is Jasmine; you're staring at me because???" Jasmine raises her eyes up to meet Echo, giving him a warning glare. This causes Echo to blink while pausing in his little snack.

"My name is Echo. You work here?" The tomcat is finally able to speak, although sheepishly from Jasmine's perception. He appears embarrassed now, shrinking back from Jasmine's glaring.

"Yeah, this is my workplace. Small inside, but roomy outside." Jasmine sweeps her arm around to showcase the area to Echo, though the tomcat himself already had an idea of how the place was prior to coming in.

"It's a cool diner; looks like something I could work in." Echo commented softly while chatting with Jasmine. He watches Jasmine shrug in a confident manner when she mentions, "There are plenty of signs up for hiring and you could be one of them."

Echo paused in thought, considering the opportunity. He declines, shaking his head in return. "Hmm, that's okay. That's not my type of job; I do have a trade of my own, but it's occasional; it comes and goes."

Blinking slowly in interest, Jasmine wonders, "Trade of your own, huh? Are you a freelance worker? Blue collar worker?"

Echo shakes his head in return, denying Jasmine's assumptions. He then reveals to her, "I am a mercenary, plain and simple."

"Oh, a hired gun! That sounds exciting!" Jasmine finally lights up in wonder upon hearing Echo's own occupation. And it is here that she offers, "Hey, maybe when I'm off then we can meet again and you can tell me more about this mercenary job of yours! I can't wait to hear all the action!"

"I like that. That sounds good enough to me!" Echo declares in finality. Looks like a friendship between the two is blossoming in the works.
