Next up, for another lore reveal, along with a type of mook utilized by the Crimson Swarm.

The origins of slashers themselves emerged from an Evangelical conspiracy to create mutated life forms that would seek out to ‘punish’ sin. While this didn’t work out like they hoped, and most slashers developed independence with actual lives…but there were two other lines of slasher, the first one being an offshoot Dr. Moreau made for his own end, but more notable were the ‘slasher drones’.

Mysterious creatures, each one completely identical and produced from an unknown source, they were deployed throughout various parts of America every Spring Break since the late-seventies/early-eighties, designed to seek out anyone who had sex or did drugs anywhere remotely near them, with a downright robotic precision.

The only thing keeping them from being considering an overall threat to humanity, is the fact that while someone is clearly making them…they’re making them fairly cheap, and they’re not very smart. Kind of clumsy too, if you keep your wits about them they might not kill you.
They’ve made a number of bounty hunters plenty of money. There’s a flat rate for ‘collecting’ these drones after they’ve been killed, and it’s turned Spring Break into the ‘busiest time of the year’ for bounty hunters.

A lot of speculation remains, since nobody knows just who is making these, and aside from some particularly fixated bounty hunters are trying to actively discover the source of the Slasher Drones, most people are taking a passive approach to figuring out the source.
What nobody knows, is the seemingly dead Darkspawn Pantheon is not only the source of these things, but them and their seemingly weak nature are part of a long, unusual plan…
