ThabzCoastal InvestigationPrologueKnysna, a beautiful coastal town located within the Garden Route along the Western Cape of South Africa. This is a small beautiful town with a small history. Housing a former mining village known as Millwood, the village was bustling with activity, but only briefly before shutting down with the residents relocating to the coastal town of Knysna. A brief gold rush sweltered and died out.
A few years later in the coastal Knysna town, a program was launched to assist with civilian and government life. This program involved the use of government robots to aid in various departments, such as police and military. But on one strange day, things went awry.
For reasons unknown, these robots developed minds of their own and turned on their creators, launching a full-scale rebel attack on the city. The government responded by issuing a self-defense order where anyone, civilian or government official can freely protect themselves.
Within minutes, residents and government officials took up arms to defend themselves and their families from the attacking robots. Even the military was called in to assist in quelling the threat, helping the settlers to also evacuate. What followed is a large war that resulted in casualties being lost on both sides.
~~~~~Following the post-war aftermath is a completely deserted, abandoned city, save for a few citizens that came back to assess the complete damage of their city. Even then, some of these citizens and the remaining government forces were planning an extensive cleanup effort to rebuild the district. But with the post-war aftermath affecting everyone badly, it's going to take a long time for the country to get back up and running again.
~~~~~Outside of one of the city blocks is a fleet of at least 5 police cars, all of them with light to moderate damage on the framework. The vehicles consist of: Ford Focus ST (Gen. 2 ×1), Ford Focus RS (Gen. 3, ×2), Volkswagen Golf GTI (Mk5, ×2). These vehicles were arranged in a roadblock style to prevent anything from proceeding down this road into one of the residential streets.
Up ahead is an unmarked Volkswagen Golf GTI (Mk7) in Deep Blue body paint, with the blue gumball light on the top of the car operating.
Investigating the ruins are a pair of police officers that are performing a patrol sweep of the area and an analysis of the total area. All kinds of debris littered the roads, ranging from tiny glass fragments to pieces of building structures. The entire post-war community is a complete mess that will require a massive cleanup effort.
One of the apartments appears to be heavily damaged. Bullet holes riddled the framework, windows were smashed, and there appeared to be debris trails scattered everywhere. Inside is just as bad.
The interior of this apartment is a complete wreck. Inside of the house is a completely messed up interior. Bullet holes and bloodstains decorate the walls while pieces of broken glass, destroyed robot parts, and other items completely litter the floor. One of the remaining officers of the police department is investigating a TV, looking it over. The television is destroyed, though the rest of the apartment itself doesn't look much better.
"Good lord, these apartments are a complete wreck! I think we may need to tear down and remodel everything." The investigator mutters to himself in shock. Just seeing the leftover carnage makes his breath catch in his throat.
Throughout the apartment, the remains of whatever building work is heavily worn with marks left behind from gunfire, tiny explosions, regular fires, whatever destructive vices there may be. Even the light fixtures were damaged. Still, the faint smell of thick smoke is only a sample of the complete smell of war lingering throughout the entire area. It will take a long time for these remaining inhabitants to rebuild and repopulate, even if it means giving the entire region a complete makeover.
"Gosh, we have a very long way to go until all of this is cleared up. This is only the beginning. I can't even imagine what the surrounding towns will look like…" the investigator comments, bereaved.
Groaning within himself, the investigating detective raises up to give another onceover at the warzone, commenting on the amount of heavy damage and carnage inflicted on the unit. "There is a lot of damage here. The aftermath proves it too; bloodstains, indentations, burn marks, scattered debris, all of it shows how brutal this whole war was. And these robots, whoever took liberty of self-defense did somewhat of an amazing job here. Not only do these bots try kidnapping people but they also shoot to kill if their target has a weapon. Gosh, we have a lot of work to do."
While that investigation is going on, there is another area in the coastal town where another unmarked detective car, a Performance Red colored Ford Focus RS (Gen. 3) is parked. Located near an alleyway, this detective is scouring the landscape when he discovers something glistening on the fragmented ground. Dashing over the debris, the detective scoops this up in his gloved hand and holds it up to get a better look.
A glisten of the sun's rays against the strange object reveals this to be a defunct power cell. This is quite odd, since the initial investigation is still pending with no way of determining the root cause. But this particular power cell must have belonged to one of the robots that went AWOL. This power cell, along with loads of different caliber bullet casings, are scattered heavily throughout the ground. The detective turns his attention to the casings on the ground and mutters, "Guess we'll have to save this investigation for a bit later. We all seem to have our work cut out for us."
Still clutching the power cell, the detective walks back to his unmarked police car and reaches inside to retrieve a plastic bag from the glove compartment, proceeding to place the power cell inside. Then he grabs a few more and begins to make his way back to the scene, separating the caliber casings. Once done, the officer then proceeds back to his car, taking the evidence with him to secure it back inside the glove compartment before settling himself back into his Ford Focus RS. Sighing softly, he mutters, "This is going to be another long day…"
