The long and the short of it is that the mind of my friend of 11 years has fractured, and their... "alters" are taking the helm to let themselves... rebuild.

What I didn't mention in the journal is that it might end up being permanent. So there's been a whole day of grieving... more crying than I've done in my life thus far, and enduring the first truly impactful loss of my life has been a gut-wrenching experience.

But with friends like  coolboy01, I know I'm never alone. Thank you, friend.
