Piano Duet: The Challengers (Theme)
Requested by another YouTube user, this is my simplified piano duet of the theme tune to a game show entitled The Challengers, an updated version of a previous game called The Who, What, or Where Game. Unusual for game shows, it prided itself on current events, and so it was in production throughout its whole run, even in the summertime (because every show began with what day it was). Producer Ron Greenberg commented that if fate would have allowed them to be on the air for the second year, they might still be on today.
Most of the current event questions and answers were taken from, or verified by, Newsweek; this was announced on-air at the midpoint of each episode. It makes it fascinating to watch, I think, since a good chunk of 1991 episodes dealt with the Persian Gulf War (Operation Desert War), which ultimately ended up being the shortest war the US ever fought, although we triumphed in that war.
The series was also unique in its payout structure: contestants received their winnings on a Citibank MasterCard or Visa credit card, although host Dick Clark referenced in some episodes that contestants had the option of converting the balance to cash. (Some did).
This arrangement (C) me and me alone
Original music composed by Joel Hirschhorn, Al Kasha, and Michael Lloyd
The Challengers (C) Ron Greenberg Productions, Dick Clark Productions, and everybody else who owns the rights, and distributed by Buena Vista Television.
