A commission made for a dear friend as part of his contribution to my work; the first Empowered mayor, Nusu Obispo, once the superhero known as Rakshasa who helped defend the city of Clareview Point during the Royal War Incident headed by the mad "god of death" Carrion and the infamous gangster and Empowered supremacy cultist, Nusu's own father, Aristotiles "The King" Zawada. He did his term well as a good hands-on mayor, even contributing a lot of volunteer work (manual labour doesn't matter much when you're as strong as he is) and did a lot to further Empowered and non-Empowered relations before finally retiring after his term to raise his triplet daughters with his wife, pharmaceutical bio-chemist Dr. Etti Obispo. Of course, in secret, his girls are receiving not just the best of education, but the best of training, for since they could talk, they have expressed a desire to learn to use their own unique abilities to become just like their dad and fight for truth, justice, and peace...
This was just generally a blast to work with, researching old-school comic covers and political posters. The train's underside didn't turn out as well as I'd like, but hey, considering there were surprisingly few good shots of the undersides of subway cars, it could be worse. Honestly, I'm most pleased with how much I could both cheat at and work with, such as the new shadowing balance I got down-pat or improvising the sheen on the big golden letters.
Nusu himself was great to make here in this adult form. The blue for Nusu was based on a working party poster in a way that offset the red, and in-universe, it kind of made sense; as a child, he was dressed in fancy No-Eyes suits, and as a youth, leather and steel, so now as a man, he finally gets to just wear normal clothes (and blue, the opposite of red... except a tiny bit of dark red for his hairband; literally putting his past behind him~)
