Before the ball fully reaches me, though I can feel a quick burst of air moving right past me and then what looks like a blue blur as I see the ball getting deflected. Instead, standing in front of me now is a Lucario. Since it had been a few months it takes me a moment to realize that I even recognize this particular pokemon. It’s the same one from the festival a few months back, the one that had been absolutely abhorrent and repulsive in the restaurant and then left when we told him off. Honestly surprised to see him here, of all things. And more importantly I don’t entirely know what his motives are, either. Could he be looking to collect his claim from the other day? For the time being I stay on the defensive and use the break in the fight to at least recover a little bit.

“Your pikachu friend,” he says, facing towards the others rather than me, though I’m not in really all that good of shape to do much fighting yet. “Are they okay?”

“Don’t know,” I grunt. “Haven’t seen them in a while, just the two of us tonight.”

“Well that’s good.” He says with a relieved sigh. “Means I arrived in time.”
