I've been rather fascinated by this. Went back and read up. I can't help but feel a sense of existential crisis for the affected individuals. The loss of identity, agency, the uncertainly of their future, can any one of them say that when they got up that morning and shuffled through their morning routine that those small things taken for granted might never happen again? Maybe a few of them, from the looks of things.. but the vast majority I'd dare say that it isn't the case.
The fact that you title this as "phase 1" is concerning as well. Though, I am intrigued.
