While the lot of you following me are most likely doing such for the art I commission others to do and not for the art I draw myself (don't lie, I've seen the numbers... hopefully one day, that'll change), I still wanted to reflect on every drawing I successfully completed over the course of 2022. I've never done an art summary like this before, but I felt I should make one this year, given how much I drew.
Indeed, when the year started, I made a personal resolution that I would post at least one new drawing every month, and... I succeeded! Every month, I managed to successfully finish and post one new drawing for all on the internet to see - admittedly, almost all of them were "Day Job Doodles" (a name I gave to the pen sketches I do at work) that were subsequently posted to my Scraps gallery due to how rough they were, but it's still the most productive I've been art-wise in years. Not only that, but I also managed to finish an honest-to-goodness digital drawing! Digital art is something I especially struggle with, as it can often take hours for me to make any meaningful progress, so one can imagine how happy I was to finally finish such a pic for a change!
For 2023, I hope I can continue to be productive and produce at least one new drawing a month, though part of me is wondering how I can put out more/better art? If I can up the ante to two drawings per month this year, that'd be swell, but... how would I go about doing that? The pen sketches take long enough and I only have so much time at my day job to really work on them (unless I opt to do really basic stuff for the secondary drawing). Maybe I'll have to dedicate more time to drawing at home with "proper" art materials (like actual paper and colored pencils)? Perhaps I could try my hand at making rough and hasty digital sketches? I would love to do more digital art...
Well, the year's only just begun, so I still have a little time to think about that. But know that I'm very happy at what I was able to do last year, and here's hoping I'll be able to keep at it this year!
Happy New Year, everybody!
