Well, this one I feel might be a bit different than I usually do. I have talked about Maxwell in great extensions in other posts, but there was never an image... Featuring him and only him. The main antagonist of the setting, and the one who leads the army of the Faceless forces that devour and swallow entire realms. Maxwell has been the main antagonist of my setting ever since the beginning. When they were simply known as "Shadows", but the concept has always remained the same. That Thomza and Maxwell would duke it out for the safety of a universe. That the setting of Skin to Scales is massive and grand and doesn't even take place in a singular universe as there's a lot of content outside of it. When designing the setting I wanted to give a lot of... Free form and range of ideas so that lots of people could contribute or even draw inspiration from the setting. That there is basically only one Thomza and one version of Maxwell fighting infinitely across realms...
That might sound a bit confusing without context of previous posts. So let me explain the tiny bit of history between the two as a very short and brief summary. At one point, Thomza, Tia the Tiamat and a few others originated from a classic and old-school JRPG setting before Maxwell attacked and destroyed everything. Seeking refuge in a dying universe they would destroy beings known as "the pillars" and take their place. All the while Maxwell showed back up to attack the main cast. A massive war was fought, and Thomza came out on top and banishing Maxwell from the realm. Swearing that he would be back for the proper test when he believes that Thomza would take the mantle as God. 10 Cycles later, After the A.I war, and after multiple creation attempts of the universe, Maxwell had returned and set his sights on Thomza and Tia's realm that they had created. This was happening all the while Thomza and Maxwell were battling it out in other realms and universes. Now Thomza has to return to his realm he created and defend it against Faceless Forces and Maxwell's reign as characters from across settings and even inhabitants of Cycle 10 now must team up and do battle against him.
...and that's a basic summary of the lore behind the character and histroy. Now Maxwell himself as already explain by Thomza is a bit wrapped in mystery. That he was once a humanoid or human hero who had gone through some odd form of transformation. Being a Maskless in nature as Thomza had also gone through the same horrific changes that he has. As Maxwell believes it is destiny that the hero must fight the villain and that he plays his role. Destroying universes that can't stand up for themselves and creating massive armies out of them. That everything is his stage play and that those who oppose him as well as his own soldiers are the actors. Maxwell does cheat of course like any villain, but he actively loathes boring stories. It is not uncommon that creative tactics fought against him usually show some forms of success. It is also to be noted that Maxwell is more immortal than many of the gods of the setting, and cannot be defeated by any means, but can be driven back. Very rarely will Maxwell attack the same universe twice...
I don't got much more to say since I want to leave most up to a mystery, but at the very least give a general run down of the character. He's cunning like any other villain but will see everything as inconsequential and you may find him scribbling something in a notebook. That or even making a deal with somebody and giving it a neat little twist that... Usually may end up dooming their realm unless they can undo the curse. He runs on scripts, plays, and acting. Hence the nickname for Skin to Scales being, "Puppet Show" as all the characters are just actors in his play. If any of this sounds a bit rushed, my apologies, running a bit behind schedule here on some stuff and I didn't even know if I was going to be able to upload today at all. Have a good one everybody.
Also, what's in the chalice is a thick strawberry juice, despite everything... It's still his favorite beverage and he will go on long winded rants on how it's the absolute best of the best.
It is also to be noted that Maxwell is a very formless creature of infinite shapes and sizes. Although to some he may look like a mass of shadowy tentacles while other may see him as a massive dragon or even a shadowy knight. It is all left up to be in the eyes of those who see him in the setting as his form changes depending on the setting it is.
Also dear god, I need to sort through a lot of my stuff on FA... I did it for my Deviantart Account, but not yet my FA one, but I'll get there eventually
Disclaimer and Copyright: These characters involved, and the artwork belongs to me, TwistedHensley. The Skin to Scales universe also belongs to me there, TwistedHensley... You get the drill. I want to point out that this is an Epic Dark Fantasy setting with a lot of mythological and religious tones and that there is no real-life connection to any of these events, religions, characters and it is fully, grounded, in fantasy. This is the same setting where faith is a massive part of the magic system. There are also many satirical tones as well...
