Chapter 4 - Enter the Rabbit… Horse… Thing?
<<< PREV | FIRST | NEXT >>>
We finally get to the superhero part of the superhero story! Flopsy's first time fighting crime. They grow up so fast, don't they? The media even gives her a cool nickname! Well, no, not a cool nickname. In fact, Flopsy hates it. But what can she do, step forward and go public? Guess she's stuck with it.
So, this is a little embarrassing, but I actually wrote this a while ago and forgot I didn't post it. Major stress stuff happened after writing but before posting, and it's why I was completely dead on writing for a few months. And when I finally had the focus to write again, I could only get my brain to focus on Vayryn's story. It wasn't until I went to write another Flopsy chapter that I discovered my mistake. Oops! Guess I've got a little bit of a buffer for now, then, heh. Anyway, I hope people enjoy the story. With any luck, I can get back into the swing of things and be posting regularly again soon.
As always, I'd love to hear any comments or questions. ^_^

i gotta remember that if flopsy was real she probly WOULDNT beat me up, hopefully...... hopefully if she saw me havin a particularly bad meltdown she would be gentle to me...... i dunno....

I'm sorry you've been put through that, hun. *hugs deeply*
Flopsy would only attack if you were intentionally choosing to harm others. She also has trained extensively in using only the minimal force required (though that was also on a world where healing magic existed, but the absolute worst she's done with a loss of control was break an arm and a couple ribs, on someone who stabbed her in the stomach with a knife and gloated about it.) She's got a deep sense of Honor, she chooses to step in when people prey on those who cannot defend themselves, when people need help.
There's one instance later on, the encounter wasn't violent, but a woman who was in the middle of screaming about what a horrible, reckless person she is was confronting her at work. When Flopsy realized that her anger stemmed from fear, her reaction was to hug the woman, and bond with her over shared feelings. She doesn't have to worry about harm to herself, so if someone was having a meltdown and were not in control, she knows she can simply put her body in the way of anyone else and tank the hits. She'd be able to tell you weren't consciously choosing to harm. And so she'd hug you, keeping you restrained, and letting things pass.
She's pretty good at reading people, and is probably the main character most in in touch with her empathy. Despite Princess being the Love character and Flopsy being the Courage character, Princess has a lot of growth to do. Princess's denial stunted her deeply. The characters aren't restricted to only their specific Virtues, after all, since they were never intended to be defined by them. They just happen to align with certain ones. Flopsy's is Honor, the combination of Courage and Truth, but she still displays plenty of Compassion, Sacrifice, Humility, and Justice, along with Valor and Honor. I suppose it's only fitting that the Hero is the most Virtuous... ^_^;;
(Fun trivia: The "Superbunny" name comes from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. In the speedrunning/randomizer community, there's a specific glitch that allows you to gain some of the abilities of the normal Link State, while still a bunny. Specifically, you can use certain items, lift pots (but you immediately throw them, can't hold them), and open chests. The last one is the most important. When in this half-capable state, it's called "Superbunny", and there's a cave in the mountain region called "Superbunny Cave" because it's set up in a way where you can reach it as a bunny, and going through it activates the glitch automatically, making it easy to get those two chests without the Moon Pearl.)
