You are correct.
The plague deer, Decay is undead. To kill it you would require some powerful magic.
However it and others like it. does not have much of emotion. There may be a sense of some emotions in them but it is shallow and short lived. Majority of the time they are blank slates. just wandering and whatever they do is a spur of the moment act.
They dont have a motive nor a goal.
Reason Decay ended up at the farm in the first place was simply because it was passing by and had a flick of a interest in the spot.
Buddy only got harmed because he acted towards it with aggression. If they all had stepped away Decay would have lost interest and moved on.
However its ooze would damage the land and everything on it to everyone dismay.

That was a gorgeous sequence. I was faving them all, then realized how irritating that must be to get so many notifications. So I'm just commenting here to say that that is one of the best things I have seen here.
