The first chapter of my epic fantasy fan story about setting and characters of
0laffson
This time a want to tell about references every chapter has.
Here there are two - story title and epigraph.
The title is a reference to H. P. Lovecraft's short fantasy story "The Doom That Came to Sarnath" (1919). The story tells of a fall of a rich and glorious city. In addition, the fact that it is by Lovecraft adds two very important meanings. the first is: "Craft Love, Not War". The second is: "Fhtagn!"
Here you can read the story https://www.hplovecraft.com/writing.....iction/ds.aspx
The epigraph is a line from "Odes" poem by ancient Roman poet Horace meaning: "It is sweet and proper to die for one's country."
And here we come to an important statement. This story of mine is about love, war and family. And there will be various references and sources of inspiration. They mostly will be about war, militarism or pacifism and anti-militarism.
