Week 8's runway theme: The Crystal Ball
So I'm a bit late posting but I had to make three looks this time! ^.^' This was season 15's Ball episode, a design challenge wherein the queens are required to create not just one runway look, but three. Its usually my favorite because I like seeing what everyone comes up with.
This year, in honor of Drag Race's 15th anniversary, they went with crystal (the traditional gift for a 15th anniversary celebration), ie The Crystal Ball. The three looks were as follows:
Start Your Engines: recreate RuPaul's famous racer girl look from the promos for the show.
My Favorite Ball: choose a Ball theme from a past season. I picked the Bitch Ball, a canine couture look where the outfit has to match your assigned pooch. (Corgi was chosen at random with a spinny wheel thing.)
Crystallized Eleganza: Something extra sparkly and dripping in crystals. I went with a rococo inspired gown, with some leg showing to keep it sexy because it's Mara we're talking about. lol
I think if I were to take this set on again I'd try to do all three looks with the crystal theme, just to give the challenge an extra layer; but as far as I could tell on the show this wasn't a requirement for look 1 and 2, only 3.
