Here’s some delicious cake-like pastries that go great with your favourite jam and whipped cream!
Here’s how I made them:
1- preheated oven to 425 F (or 220 C)
2- measured 2 cups flour, 1/4 cup baking soda, 1/4 cup baking powder, 1/2 cup sugar or sweetener, 1/2 cup butter (cubed up) and combined in a large mixing bowl until butter is incorporated into your mixture
3- add 1+1/2 cup milk and combine with dry ingredients until fully combined and you get a nice dough
4- form dough into equal rounds and freeze for 15 minutes until firm then brush with milk and sprinkle sugar on top
5- baked in middle rack of oven for 16 minutes until golden brown
6- serve with fresh jam and whipped cream!
* From Chris: I would certainly remove the toothpicks before serving; also note that this dough, as is, is also a great medium to add other ingredients such as cinnamon, raisins, currants, chocolate chips, etc. !
