[COMM] Ozark the Graviomancer - by MiraOff
Ozark learned how to use psionics to influence the gravity around him not long after he learned how to walk, which is less exciting and more annoying than you might think. Regardless, bending gravity fields to his whim has always been second nature, which makes it no surprise that he decided to emphasize the Irid when he was taking sorcerer's coursework at Quintessence, the top Terran school for higher psionic education. Over ten long, brutal years of juggling classes and working a space trucking startup later and now he has something to show for it, and not just a fancy piece of paper.
Custom commissioned to him as part of his sorcerer's ceremony, Ozark's "Blackstar" robes not only look fancy, but they are incredibly practical as well. For starters, the thin, sturdy weave of the shirt and pants, chosen as a complement to his custom qigon fighting style, are flexible enough to accommodate both his masculine and feminine forms while also being airtight and resilient enough to exceed federal standards for hermetic sealing and spacewalking... meaning that, with the right auxiliary gear, he can spacewalk in his robes with no additional equipment. His boots and gauntlets are actually made of a bronze-based alloy that allow him to sense and anchor himself to other objects with a gravitational influence, and each sports a jastite catalyst that can hide away a couple of tools (or weapons) within reach. Same thing with the belt and its assortment of catalysts designed to store a fair number of objects inside, ready to be summoned at a moment's notice.
Overall, it's a very clean, slick get-up that blends high-tech versatility with fantasy styling cues. The only loose items on his person are the collapsible staff (the Starwalker's Cane) at his belt and a necklace with an iridite gem as its centerpiece... oh, right, the helmet. It's not actually part of his robes, but it was something he inherited and it's something he uses with it. Normally part of a Navy "Strix" recon team's loadout, this helmet includes a variety of physical and psionic sensors that can detect anything that emits noise, airborne chemical agents, electromagnetic radiation, gravity waves, and psionic ripples. It even includes a rebreather apparatus hookup that allows him to spacewalk with a compatible apparatus, as well as targeting and infomatics uplinks to compatible weapon attachments, other helmets, or an AI or other battle computer system.
This is more or less an extension of Ozark's main reference, who assumes the role of a starship captain and sorcerer within my science fantasy setting. I've been wanting to get more OCs of mine in their proper "work" attire, starting with my 'sona's get-up. Sorcerer's robes vary from person to person simply due to them being custom pieces of equipment, as they are designed to meet the user's unique requirements. Ozark, for his set, required only two things: to work with his gravity-manipulating abilities, and to work with his high-mobility style of qigon, a martial arts designed to take advantage of psionics. Something taut but forgiving, while moving with the flow of gravions. No needless loincloths, skirts, tassels, and (especially) capes.
As for the helmet, not every sorcerer has something like that, but in Ozark's case he happened to have it anyways - and I think it looks cool. :3c
(btw: bonus points to whoever figures out the main inspiration for it)
