Regional Variant Concept -- Xatu [Art by Lay]
Another Regional! This time, I made one of the Mystic Pokémon from Gen 2 -- Xatu!
-- The official design by GameFreak has totem poles as its inspiration, and I decided to diverge into more... ''exotic'' cultures for my take on this peculiar monster. I made it a dual PSYCHIC / FAIRY type -- a combination you don't see very often -- and went all out on the ''Japanese Garden'' theme. Can you tell I've drawn inspiration from Gen 7's Oricorio, too? I originally wanted the headwear to resemble a royal crown, but later on, it slowly turned into something more of a haircut or traditional cloth. The beak came out pretty much the way I intended, too, although I did have some trouble designing the beak -- which I'm surprised by, considering I hit the nail on the head with my recent ''Regional Variant -- Altaria'' artwork not too long ago. I thought I'd also add two pink-ish wing-like body parts on each side, to put more emphesis on the secondary Fairy typing I gave this design, and I think it looks pretty natural, and I definitely know how incredibly difficult it can be sometimes when balancing a Pocket Monster aspect with outlandish yet still natural features -- just ask Ken Sugimori.

The Gen 5 Grass type Starter? Yes, I don't have any distaste for any Starters, TBH.
While Serperior isn't my ~favorite~ Starter (I think my favs are Swampert and Infernape, and Delphox if you can actually believe it, that one was the Starter I used in X version), I do like the theme of the Gen 5 Starters of ''Nobility''.
