Can we really say by that definition of forced chaos the tree and her cohorts have been any better? Sending warriors and even other gods to their inevitable doom by her actions, keeping the people there only on blind faith and ignorance of the true depth of the situation, whos to say rajahn is truly the bad guy and not just the embodiment of the chaotic force of freedom encroaching on a dying old legacy? I mean really though, we still dont know his motives after all, and the first causalty in war is always the truth
I doubt his intentions are truly just or for the betterment of the people around him.
Cause ya know all the death and destruction. '-'
Are the other deities any better? By a thin margin, but I'd rather live in a prosperous world with the thin random occurrences of chaos than the forced warlord-like processes coming from Rajan.

But thats the ultimate question innit? How are we so sure the other gods are indeed "better by a thin margin" when we hardly know them? That one guardian who intended to die fighting for the tree at the start switched real quick when rajahn showed him... Something.tm? There is context missing here, something not being said that even a lifelong devotee of the gods changed sides the moment he saw it. Thats what decides it, and i get the feeling i know whats coming soon with all that anger the people have.
And here he comes, the one who didn't aim to become a Guardian. Gonna be very interesting to see what the general audience will say about Tristan, and what Luna sees in him, cause I'm assuming she's going to bring up their first meeting. As for Nigel? Well...*Grabs some popcorn*
Uhhh, you do realize that as far back as Chapter Zero, at the time Miralle was an infant, that Luna bought up how fickle her worshippers were, and how she had to try and keep Miralle a secret for a good while because she feared the people would turn on her out of envy?
This was preestablished lore years ago.
That being said, I doubt I'll look up the next few pages. The resulting explosion will be too... Suffocating.
Seriously, Just getting the feel of the next chapter already, gives this feeling that it will be incredibly negative... And may prove Rah J'han correct on many things about the supporters of Luna... Well, whatever it was that made Rah J'han the way he was.

If it's not, it makes good sense, but this is also some atheists to a tee.
People want instant gratification and an answer to their problems, even though most situations require careful handling and resource allocation. Deities within this world can and do stumble, and the supporters, when they don't see progress fall easily to their intrusive thoughts.
I'm curious if the Trrr goddess makes it out of this and, if so what her role will be going forward.

To be fair: The people know the situation and that doom and destruction are rapidly aproaching them and that so far the gods have not only failed to stop it... but several of them have perished allready. And if you cant put your trust into the gods... who can you put your trust in? And then they are standing here, seeing this ceremony to choose the next knights.. who they hope will be the ones to save the day.. and then be presented with a gaggle of hormonal teenagers who are nothing like what the goddess just talked about in terms of what a knight is suposed to be? Their reaction is completly understandable.
The gods turned out to be just as prone to failure as mortals, death is quickly aproaching... and here they see the Tree of life aparantly playing favourites while ignoring far better choices? If i was a peasant in that crowd i would question these choices too.. ofcourse the goddess has access to information no one else has and has it all planned out... but also ofcourse no one else but her knows that.

....I don't know why, but I feel a lot of the Commoners will be like "Hi Tristan!" When he turns up.
It's Nigel I am worried about... And In this case, he has every reason to be tee'd off. I mean, for Divine's sake, Luna blinded him, and expects him to come up and accept the charm without issue?
Fat chance.

That is indeed a fair question - what kind of vision she saw?
Just like dr. Strange saw the only way to defeat Thanos was for them to loose one battle and 5 years, to later come back and defeat him, I forsee she saw that only these misfits will be strong enough, potentially, to defeat Chaos.
HOW and WHY - are my questions, and I'm eager to see more. :3

Oh boy I can't wait to see Triston's knighting. But Nigel's knighting that is the one I've wanted to see the most.
I am especially looking forward to how Nigel reacts to his knighting, I'm also looking forward
to Toby's reaction. How will he react knowing Luna blinded Nigel. I hope Toby chews her out.

People on here criticize her actions from the view of an outsider that has meta knowledge, me included. Because her actions where VERY destructive to a certain character, unnecesarly so. People in the crowd in the comic however criticize her because of what they know.. and they know these people standing on stage right now, and they know that they are nothing like what the tree of life spoke of a knight should be. So they judge her and her actions based on what they know and see.. not what she knows and sees.
What this reaction shows though is that the respect and trust towards the gods... is basically nonexistand anymore. Imagine if someone in medieval times would stand in ye olde townsquare loudly and openly criticizing the pope.. while the pope was present with his personal bodyguards... that persons lifespan would drastically decrease in an instant XD Here? Everyone seems to agree that the tree of life finaly went off the deep end... shows you how far the gods have fallen in the eyes of the public.

The fact that people were falling farther away from the gods been shown from the begining of the comic as well, Luna spoke that common folk no longer see her as Creator of all, just some sort of goddess.
Not that she really needs their worship, but yeah, the fact that gods are not much different from mere humans, aside from immortality (not invulnerability) and magic abilities, served into the current state of affairs, along with Chaos spreading and killing more and more gods along the way.
But I spoke once more about the story as a whole, not a one sided glance at the situation and one singular character that has been wronged, and caused such massive shit storm in the comments.
I'm still curious, what actually caused Luna to act the way she did, what future she saw possible if she acted in certain way, did she see it clearly, or her vision got clouded over the time as well, as abilities of other gods?
Unlike those who blindly spit poison upon Luna, I'm waiting to see, how Zummeng will shape the plot of her story.
She may be at fault to the core, but unless whole story been unfolded, it's uncalled for to wish her death and spit on a character, at least imho.

I think it was pure desperation that motivated her to take such drastic actions. The other gods seemed to have resigned themselves to the inevitable fate allready.. atleast they didnt look very hopefull or motivated in that little meeting of theirs. So i guess this is lunas last hail mary?
Thing is: the ends do not justify the means. She basically destroyed the life of a young child to see her plans come to fruitition. That is ruthless and quite cold and no amount of "it had to be that way" will justify what said character had to go through.. that the gods can and do fail shows that even with their best intentions and wisdom they can be wrong, and luna is gambling with the world at stake here. And her enemy can turn even the most loyalist guardians against her... how easy would it be to turn someone who allready hates her?
Furthermore there where many MANY people who quite clearly and extensively explained their dislike of Lunas actions, to claim that people "blindly spit poison" on her is a mischaracterization of why people have problems with her actions. Also Zummegs writing was never up for debate either, it cannot be judged anyways till the story is complete. But with how things where set up i dont expect a happily ever after and a "everythings forgiven and forgotten" for Luna in the future. And i think the character knows it too

From her actions, I feel like she's ready to do the final sacrifice and protect her last wariors and survivors with her own life,to let them have their last liner of hope at her expense.
She hoped to guide the world trough with her vision and let people have their free will, but said free will brought the worst outcome to life.
I do not think that Luna is ultimately right, nor that she herself thinks it's justified, the way the events turned.
The sheer fact that despite her having a vision of a future, even she can't prevent bad things from happening.
I wonder, if giving Nigel better life, guiding him by hand, taking him under her wing, instead of what he've got, would've brought the world to its ultimate demise.
You know, the batterfly effect.
It's only my specualtion, but I knew well some people that turned to be kindest and most empathic after going through hell, while those who were sheltered their whole life, turned to be most vile and toxic people ever.
Same is true in reverse, of course, life is not black and white, but it made me wonder, if giving Nigel a good life would've taken away world's last hope.
Is it justified, if the world's fate at stake, to make someone suffer in order for the whole existance survive?
That's a good question.
I think that should be a personal choice.
But what if there's noone able to make such a choice or a person i question can't make such choice on their own yet?
That's why this whole series is very interesting to me, thought provoking, and Luna doesn't feel like utterly evil or shitty to me.
Helpless, desperate and flawed goddess on her last straw, trying to save the world and keep her smile up, no matter what.
I feel like she deserves our pity the most.
Imagine trying to nurture a tree you've grown for years, only for it to rot from inside infront of our very eyes, while your children keep carving curse words on its bark or sawing away at its branches, instead of helping, and ou can't really tell them off, cuz you love them too much.
Crazy thought, right?

Im wondering if all this animosity and negativity will act as a magnet to chaos's forces, bringing them to the ceremony and forcing the knights to prove themselves right then? Would cost a lot of lives no doubt, but would also be the "lawful neutral" thing to do if a gods followers are losing faith. Give them a reason to believe and reinvigorate worship by showing the "or else"
Hey, every time she chose the best of the best of the best, not only did they all fail?
They all fell.
They all fell and turned.
So now we're going to go with okay, mediocre, poor, unfortunate and are you nuts. If anything, The Dark will refuse to take them because it's laughing too hard.
Which will give them all an opening, assuming they can learn to work together. And something tells me that Tristan will be the one who unifies them.

If they're dragging who it looks like they're dragging up there to be a knight, then *maybe* don't drag what appears to be an ACTUAL CRIMINAL on stage? You know... TALK to him, ASK him if he's willing, give him a choice first, then let him WALK up there? It'll still be a shock, but at least it won't look like she's conscripting random people against their will instead of choosing people who worked their whole lives for the chance.
I am greatly confused by all of this, I must say.

This is entirely based on my personal experiences and biases. I'm getting a slight Power Rangers vibe from the choices being made on the Knights of Life. Of course, when the first rangers were chosen in MMPR, 3 of those chosen made sense. Jason was a born leader and strong martial artist, Zach was his best friend, also skilled, and had even built a style all his own, and Trini had a strong background in Kung Fu. Kimberly, on the other hand was a skilled Gymnast, but also a "Valley Girl," and had no background in martial arts. Billy was perhaps the most baffling choice (had the selection been public knowledge), with his "only" defining skill being his great intellect. Not exactly what people are looking for in terms of frontline troops in a Doomsday scenario.
But this situation in comic doesn't bring to mind MMPR, really. The one I was reminded of was Power Rangers RPM. The original 3 rangers of that show being former pilot, shot down early in the battle to evacuate civillians into their fortress city, an "Action Chick," who turned out was the spoiled daughter of a wealthy family, and a wannabe hero who could never hold a job in his life, because he was determined to be the Big Good. Joining them ultimately was a cyborg with an attitude problem, whose robotics were installed by the Big bad, and a petty criminal wannabe mobster who has screwed up everything he has ever done in his life, and whom every criminal organization in their city wants dead. Also, said big bad was created by the mentor character, and released because of an accident.
That was a nice long rant that used a lot of words, but managed to say virtually nothing of consequence. I guess the moral of the story is that I like Power Rangers RPM.
