I do find myself somewhat in disbelief that Luna is saying this, cause it is clear had things gone a different way, Tristan may very well have been a model guardian to set an example for others. But at the same time, she only left him with sweet words, and expected him to make a complete 180, with was incredibly naive on her part.
Looking at things now, like Nigel, she is in someway's effectively choosing for him, or has been forced to set him on a, let's say, better path, cause he's unable to do it himself. Really interested to see how he develops over time.
Also I'm I the only who thinks that the crowd in attendance, are looking at these guys like their fresh meat for the chaos, and once their gone the real knights will be chosen? Cause from the way they've been reacting so far, it's like they're looking at the one's Luna chose as chaos fodder.

The crowd seems to be more of the opinion that Luna has gone of the deep end and that this whole knight ceremony is a sham to promote those close to her without any real merit behind it. And from their standpoint that makes alot of sense because these new "knights" are nothing like what Luna just proclaimed a knight should be. Hell in some cases its questionable that these guys have what it takes to even become a guardian. At this point its no surprise that they are loosing their faith in the gods.
It's obvious that she thinks that they have a chance to succeed the way they are now.
But think about it, if Tristan and Nigel had changed by themselves, even after her little nudge, how much stronger they could have been.
It's like liposuction it solves a problem, but if someone manages to loose weight without it, they will be stronger for it. Not just physically, but mentally as well and it can be the better solution in the long run.
But they didn't, so she applies more force to them, if they want it or not.
And I'm guessing here, but there probably wasn't a guarantee they would succeed even at their full potential.

Not exactly naive, but acting as a god should. People should have freedom, I think she believes. She hopes they will make good choices, but she doesn't force them to and won't punish them if they don't. Not unless it becomes absolutely necessary.
This is likely why injustice exists in their society, when she might have the power to simply end it with an edict. Is that immoral of her? To be able to end suffering, but choosing not to? Does she hope the people will be able to take charge of their own destiny and forge a just and kind world?
I think too many in the (real life) audience wish she were a tyrant goddess, who rules with an iron fist... a nightmare scenario where Luna demands fanatic zeal and rules over every aspect of life. No choice, no free will, left to her children.

People more seeing 'You done half a job, but have a full smile.' Luna tries like with both Tristan and Nigil but her efforts seem half assed for full effect she was hoping for in the end.
And we see the turn the around when she saw them both Nigil still angry, and Tristan in jail.

Bilbo Baggins wasn't a burglar by trade and by his own words, "Adventures just make one late for dinner." However, Bilbo proved to be more capable than a simple Hobbit. Tristan has made mistakes and fell in with the wrong crowd. He was abused and manipulated. Tristan is a good person that cares about other people. Feels guilt for his crimes. He may surprise himself with how much courage he possesses. Besides a good thief is an asset for any adventuring group.
To clarify slightly. A rogue with good intentions helps a good party.
If I base the original statement on it sown merits I can point to several people ive had in D&D and tabletop games that played a rogue and had a more... chaotic or questionable disposition while with a good party, and those actions more often than not hindered and hurt the party more than helped.

This is a good point, but given Tristan's demeanor i think its safe to say hes not the "that guy" rogue. If he was i would be posting never split the party https://youtu.be/waa2ucfgVgQ and reminding everyone the golden rule about rogues.
So Luna was not bound by some honor codex of "free will for mortals" but was just hoping everyone would make the right live decisions by them self and after they did not make it the way she was hoping for NOW she start making decisions for them?
Can't wait for Nigels turn, this will be soooo good :D

Considering how Tristan's life has been up to this point, I'm more than fine with Luna deciding for him on this occasion regarding which path he should take, even if it means he's going to have to face adversity unlike any he's encountered before. Having said that, I'm very curious on what the crowd's reaction is going to be, as well as that of the new Knights, which is not going to be positive, for the most part.
I think i see what she is doing here, but I know everyone is going to flip out cause knee jerking reaction.
"You're letting a thief, a lug head, a quack doctor, and a arrogent warrior become the new guardians!? what leaves have you been smoking, Life Mother?!"
Hopefully these new Guardians learn themselves quick and prove to the people their abilities before people start a riot.

its fun how these comics always bring out the most analytical parts in us as we analyze each character on their collective whole to make pridictions. im not excluded of course but i just think its great that this comic makes everyone look so deeply into the story and its characters.
