Having lived in New York City since it was little more than a British colony, Catherine knows a thing or two when it comes to real estate. Not that much has changed between then and now - save for the amenities and the sheer scale of the economy. So when it comes time to figure out what the value is in what is being bought or sold, it helps to have deep insight in what is on offer, which is why she was hired out to review a place being offered up for sale. The paperwork looked promising, with a handful of minor details that she'd need to see for herself before giving a final figure. It was going to be interesting to see who was going to take it.

It isn't uncommon for Harbingers to live lives lasting many centuries, depending on how successful their host civilizations are, and the ones that live to such an age tend to be wanderers with no real place to call home. Catherine is one such Harbinger, who emigrated to America from Austria when the East India Company was becoming a major player in British colonialism, and ultimately decided to make the budding colony of New York her home. What started as a simple tavern for sailors and traders (which may or may not have had help from a certain seasoned innkeeper) ultimately developed into a multi-billion-dollar empire of her own across three centuries, including a handful of towers in the heart of Manhattan - something she takes greater pride in than fighting to the death over territory. As a result, she's much more of a "first responder" kind of Harbinger compared to some of her peers. Her patriotism is there, just expressed differently. Still doesn't mean she won't throw down when it matters most, especially if her city is in danger.

Until then, there's real estate to deal with.
