Been a while since I did a Cartoon Cutie, so I bring you Jamika, from the 1993 animated adult comedy Bébé's Kids, one of the six main protagonists in the film; she is the romantic interest of Robin, Single Mother of Leon and a sort of care taker of LaShawn, Kahlil and Pee-Wee – the trouble making truant children of her friend, Bébé.
After meeting her, and her only son Leon, at a wake, Robin asks her out, and she suggest to go to an amusement park – Fun World; but to Robin's luck, she also brings the violent trouble making children of her friend Bébé. His date with Jamika becomes a living hell, in large part thanks to Bébé's kids causing problems at Fun Land, that despite its name its operated by overbearing rules and with an over protective security – though the Kids view of Fun is downright vandalism in of itself – and in the end the siblings lead all the kids to a revolt that destroys the park - even her son, Leon, developing feelings for LaShawn.
While gentle in her nature and a good mother to Leon, she seems to make no attempt to rule in the Bébé's Kids violent tendencies, which is a result of their mother's hedonistic, absent and neglectful life style, which Jamika is well aware of and fails to judge her for, at times been an unwilling enabler to – indeed, despite the movie been called Bébé's Kids, Bébé herself is nowhere to be seeing in the film. She tries to explain this to Robin, who by then has had it enough with the Kids – the Police even been too terrified of them - and seeks Bébé herself out for a stern talking, but instead gets to see their living conditions; a rundown apartment in the worst part of town, with barely any food for dinner, and their mother nowhere in sight. In the end, and after burden by a great deal of his own conscious, despite their differences, both apologies to the other, and Robin and Jamika take the kids to Las Vegas, barely making it and the town entering into a panic when seeing three children, even though the Siblings had never been in Vegas, before Pee-Wee takes out the lights for the whole town.
Jamika was voiced by Vanessa Bell Calloway.
