Like A good part of this particular comic that was kind of fun to draw is the notion that we the audience know exactly what they will become, but they do not. The comic takes place roughly in the 80's, before pokemon was a thing. So it was fun to think of what sort of iconography could be gleamed knowing only type. Like Flying type, Bug Type and Water types are fairly accurate to guess. But what would you expect to see from something listed as just dark type? Or fire? Or electric?
