Sapphire, the Pale Star: When a young Sapphire angered a nobleman by not kneeling with "sufficient supplication", the affront cost her one of her eyes. The injury was marked with a scar in the shape of a star. Half-blinded and bleeding, this might have been the end for her were she not rescued by a woman who tended to her injuries. The kind woman was a witch, who managed to partially restore Sapphire's injured eye. However that eye would never see the light of day again, but would be able to pierce the darkness in ways her other eye could not. Sapphire swore revenge against the arrogant nobleman, and he was the first of many such victims. She had been turned to the path of assassination, despite never before harboring such violent tendencies. Perhaps this was an inheritance from the witch who saved her? Who can say?
