Chakat Rockshie meets Esteban on the beach at Topaz Bay by chance. The boy is depressed because his lifemate Lilethe Skunktaur is still in a coma in the hospital. So, Rockshie invites Esteban for a walk on the beach and tries to cheer him up. In a moment of conversation, where Rockshie's empathy was at its maximum, this tender, spontaneous and unexpected kiss occurs. Rockshie immediately backs down and apologizes. But Esteban thanks the chakat for the sincerity of that kind gesture, at a difficult time for him.

This kiss will be stored in the boy's memory, a memory that will easily be scanned by Lilethe, due to the special connection between the two.

And since Lilethe and Esteban became lifemates, there's an implicit pact between the two: Esteban can't become sexually involved with any other taur, and Lilethe with no other biped.
