I offer the assumption hence this argument it landing up in a somehwat lovably kitsch furry porn heartwarming comic.
I like Viktrias Works. Especially for the prtrayed character dynamic. The orange reptile being a bit of a doofus but lovably and the former djinn having and being a wonderful partner.

Yeah, I do agree with irl-scenario
Skating can be very frustratingly difficult to learn, and some parents can be very pushy to make their kids to do popular sports. My initial hate stems from actual pain with my flat feet combined with narrow skates. Now I'm trying to get into long-distance skating on natural ice, but not for too long sessions
I do love Darnell's hearty optimism. Maybe Shani learns to love this, or not :D

Agreed, my personal take away of this point in their adventures is that as a former djinn she is learning how to "person". While formerly as a djinn she'd likely be able to do all these things easily, but now as a mortal she has to do everyone the hard way and this is meant to show it in a humorous way, seriously doubt the author is implicating in any way that this is what should be done to everyone in the real world.
While I do understand that Viktria is making slide of life erotic comic, and I am not trying to demand she has to make this comic differently - I am enjoying the comic truly
Darnell is supportive and, honestly the most perfect teacher, until he pushed shani away
The thing is that I, and probably few others here, have a knee-jerk reaction to "tough love" teaching method; I personally just boil, if I'm just starting to get a grasp to basic stance, someone pushes me out of my comfort zone without my consent or mental preparation
I've been Shani in few similar situations- and it does make me want to quit on the spot and not trust the teacher, even quit whole sport. Even as an adult - this of course is different with S + D, but do I hate my father for doing that kinda stunts
It's not about victim mentality. It's emotionally about breach of trust during vulnerable moment. It might be overreactive, but this is how some people operate - not necessarily Shani here, but there are some of us
My initial reaction was; "ooh, Shani better stay on her feet, or she might cut Darnell with her skates... damn I hate my father and sport teacher"

honestly though, it does look like Darnell was right there behind her. You have to skate free a few times before you get it. I mean, he's right there to catch hold of her when she gets too unsteady. It's one thing to push and watch, another to push and follow. As long as your teacher is right there to catch you, even if you can't see them, it's not a bad thing.
Sometimes you do have to leave your comfort zone. As I said it's one thing to throw someone into a pool, it's quite another to let them go, but be right there one step away to help them.

I would say that there is a HUGE difference leaving your comfort zone on your own terms and prepare opposite to being - you know, forcefully push from comfort zone without a warning while physically and mentally being on high alert
Because of that it may look outside that it could not be a bad thing, but to that tense person it can be internally and emotionally terrifying. And that can leave a mark, deep distrust, unsafe feeling and phobia - I'm talking about absolute worst case and bit of own experience
That being said; slow and steady exposure therapy does work, and with the spirit of the comic Shani started to enjoy sledding too. After multiple rides of horror, but she got there....
While to you Darnell being right behind her might not look so bad, but to me it doesn't look that great - but this is my own personal interjection and not creator's intent

Before you assume, Yeah. I've been there. And yes, sometimes you do need that push. Thing is, it has to be done the right way. Darnell was right there to reaffirm he was helping, trustworthy, caring for her. Not just, I'm going to push and watch what happens from over here. One leaves a mark, the other is much less traumatizing. Let us not forget she did ask for this. after experiencing him doing the same thing earlier. This isn't him just springing it on her, she asked for the new experience.
He didn't just take her out to the ice and say "Ok, now we're going to skate" then push her out onto the ice. A lot of things can be traumatizing if done wrong. I've experienced that too. I just don't think this is the case here.

I know it's just a comic, that's why I said not to apply this to real life.
I doesn't have to cause trauma in order to cause resentment. People I trust pushing me into uncomfortable situations without my consent will make me lose that trust in them.
It feels like someone trying to force you to like something they like.

Good thing it is ✨ fiction ✨
Also doesn't exposure therapy have a high clinical success ratio when applied appropriately?
It is very situation dependent, but the nervousness or hesitancy to any activity such as this skill based activity is predicated on a fear of failure. Life has failures and we learn from them.

Yes it is a good thing it's just fiction. But part of enjoying fiction is being able to relate to the characters, situation and etc. So there needs to be an element of believablility and semi-realism for people to enjoy it, in which for this story it seems a lot of people have had their qualms with the situations involved.
Exposure therapy requires a long time to do. Usually years and years. So yes it has a high success rate but it's also not a trial by fire (ice?) thing either unlike what is happening in this comic.
That said, I personally enjoy the comic, but I can understand why many people feel uncomfortable with the situation being portrayed with the constant forced exposure of something the character has shown strong dislike towards. The emotional response is probably a visceral feeling that some readers are concerned with.

It sure takes a while to get used to the sensation of wearing ice-skates or inline skates but once you do it's awesome and it feels very freeing to be able to whizz around at speeds you'd have a hard time reaching on foot! ^^ I'm sure she'll have tons of fun once she gets used to it. =3 That's your chance to break out the ice figure skating reference pictures. 😁 I'm sure there are some interesting anatomy lessons to be had, all this while incorporating all the forces involved while spinning around, counterbalancing and such. ^^
As adorable, funny and wholesome as this is, in a way, I don't think Darnell really knows how to teach someone to ice skate; not with those methods. However, this is a comic, maybe Shani will end up learning the basics so she doesn't have to kick her husband's ass, at least I think so. XD
Great job on the comic so far. Loving the dynamic between the two, and how everyone around them is enjoying Shani's reactions too.
Also don't listen to those comments above. You're doing fine with the story. Darnell is a supportive teacher and isn't leaving Shani to flail and fall. He's right there behind her in the last panel to hold her up and make sure she doesn't fall. Awesome job.

This segment here reminds me of me and my dad. When I was little I used to be terrified of the rollercoasters that took you upside down. My dad, being a stern man, made me go on those rides and I cowered and whimpered the whole time. I got used to it and realized I didn't have a reason to be scared. I was very mad at my dad for a while, but him being pushy and forcing me to experience something is what showed me how much fun it could be. I love roller coasters of all types now and I find myself often sad that I'm the only person in my family or groups that are willing to ride the wild ones.
My dad did this same thing with hiking and now I love my nice long nature walks. Thank you for your comic and I hope to see more wonderful adventures.
